Quadrilatero (four sides) describes the area located between the Porta Palatina, almost intact, the Decumana (or Praetoria) absorbed by Palazzo Madama and two other doors now gone. Vastly gentrified, the area is a charming conglomerate of illustrious palaces, Baroque and Romanesque churches, trendy restaurants and boutiques and antique book stores. Great for both a day or evening visit or both.

.. the wave of globalization that has washed over a lot of cities, where downtown areas have been revitalized, modernized and sanitized, and essentially turned into trendy spots has made this area of Turin vibrant, lively, interesting, diverse and very attractive. And yes, trendy as well. Nice restaurants, alongside ethnic shops where you can find anything Aleppo or Nablus soap, harissa, Madagascar pepper or argan oil, dot the area. Shops that sell inmates' artifacts. Glimpse into churches and palaces, or simply the courtyards of many of the buildings that used to be slums and are now sought after real estate. You will get a taste of Turin that is difficult to forget.

There is a fenced off area containing ancient Roman walls, which was unfortunately occupied by several vagrants so we got out fast. We viewed the awesome statues of 2 ceasars and walked around the market and streets. I can't say I was amazed but worth seeing while in Turin. We asked for a walking tour at the visitor's information office but they had none. Too bad.

Quadrilàter Roman in Piedmontese dialect, or simply Quadrilatero, the name derived from the perimeter of the ancient Roman fort. A historic neighbourhood of Turin, just west of the centre, an ancient part of the city with small streets and lanes full of cafes, restaurants, and bars. Lovely place to enjoy meal sitting on the outdoor terrace, coffee or drinks in the pavement cafe, or simply to wonder around beautiful narrow passageways.

Landmark of the city and one of the busiest and crowded districts of the city, there are many roads that branch off the famous buildings in the historic center of Turin, shops, bars and restaurants. An elegant and at the same time fascinating. Not expect to find the remains of Roman ruins...

There is so much to explore in this portion of the city. Some of the oldest, most beautiful buildings in Turin can be found here. Also, the widest variety of intersting shops and please wander down every street that you can, gelato in hand.

I wandered all morning through the streets of the so-called "Roman Rectangle" but i did it on my own with no previous explanation of what I was going to see, so I surely missed a lot of things. However I did manage to see the remains of Roman walls and Palatino columns, something that is always interesting to find. Again, it's a great walk if you know some things before hand or if someone can guide you through it.

This is not to be visited as a single destination; instead, it forms part of the larger archeological complex which includes impressive Roman towers and walls
