I am sure that come the middle of summer this place is packed but before then, in the early months of summer it is a joy though, as we discovered, not always warm. The little town hall is magical and a stroll around the streets...More

It's a nice town center. Piazza is bordered by Lake Orta to the west, wall of restaurants to the east and the old town all around. Very charming. Lots and lots of food options from breakfast to dessert. Plenty of places to have a drink...More

I was surprised just how busy the town and main square/piazza were - an indication was the packed car parks as you head down into the town. The square is a hive of activity with ferry jetties, restaurants, ice cream parlours and alleys leading up...More

No doubt the square fills up in summer but during each of my visits it has been uncluttered by vehicles and tourists. Some of the surrounding buildings need work but in general this is a delightfully relaxed space with the lake as its backdrop.

As said, a nice medieval square beside the Lake Orta. It is a pity that the once dominating large Hotel Orta is already for some years in decay.

You can see in the picture that it is raining. I can think of MANY places that deserve a UNESCO attribute if rain is a major factor.

This is an attractive Plazza with restaurants, outdoor dining & bars, interesting stores and access to the boats. Also a good view of the lake.

We wanted to visit Lake Orta and ended up arriving there at around 4:30 in the afternoon. The Piazza Motta was buzzing with excitement due to a wonderful Scottish/Italian wedding complete with bagpipes and kilts. The groom was a Scottish and the bride was an...More
