The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Torre Velasca is an high building in the city center of Milan, it has 26 floors. It was built approx in 1959. It was built by by the BBPR architectural partnership, in Milan, Italy: BBPR: is an acronym from the name of its designers: Gian Luigi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti and Ernesto Nathan Rogers.
Even if Banfi was already died when the building was completed.
It is very interesting

Not sure why this is even listed as a place to visit. It's an office / apartment building. I used to work in one of the offices in this building. Nothing to see here.

Torre Velasca sounds a vary strange and unusual building in the core of Milano metropolitan area. Its style doesn't match with anything else in the city and make it sound like an alien building in the town!
I can't say which kind of style is made by, maybe a temptative to be a modern rules-breaker and innovative creation by the architect....but I'm not so sure he has reach his scope!
Anyway, I think it has a sort of hidden charm and I've been interested in visit it (only outside, inside I mean there are only offices).

Modern interpretation of the Torre del Filarete present at the Sforza castle , the skyscraper takes the name of the Spanish governor Juan Fernandez de Velasco to whom the square where it was built after the bombings of the second war that destroyed most of the ancient buildings in the square.
Immediately after its construction it was immediately hated by the citizens who considered it monstrous, with the passing of the years the hatred turned into love.
I like it.

It is certainly impressive, and imposing, but let's be honest it's not pretty! You can see it from all around the city (even from my hotel room - see pic) so no need to "visit" it... and sooner or later when lost in the confusing network of streets that make up Milan you will find yourself confronted by it.

When we took part in the Duomo and rooftop tour, I noticed this giant clunky tower that somehow didn't fit into the cityscape. It was as if a nuclear bomb had been thrown into the city, and now it's mushroom cloud was emerging on the horizon. Later on, I had a closer look and found it more disturbing than the Palazzo Lombardy or Torre Hadid since I can see their class, their charm and accept them. Don’t ask me why, since I don’t know the answer. Anyway, this is a matter of individual judgment. As an architectural solution, it is brilliant, and within its own confines is not only gripping but also beautiful,- I admit that- but despite that, it is unsuitable in Milan, just like a miner's helmet in a theatre. It would do a miracle in a major American city, but not here — something like putting a Yucca in a bed of daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips.

Just could not be worse: the ugliest architecture possible. How someone came up with an idea to make this gloomy eyesore a neighbor of magnificent Milan Cathedral is beyond my understanding. It does not remind a medieval castle at all...I am seriously hoping that the time will come and it will be demolished.

No need to get near it (and it is under repair now), better view when seen from some distance, e.g. Duomo roof.
