IN THE HEART OF OLD MILAN Terrazza Aperol sits between past and future, tradition and modernity, in the huge Autogrill Duomo Store multi-concept centre in Milan, on the original site of Caffè Motta (Milan, 1928). The first Caffè Bar Motta, in Galleria Carlo Alberto, was designed by the architect Melchiorre Bega. Its interior design blending Italian tradition with the innovations of futurism helped define the identity of the typical "Italian bar" known all over the world. For three generations, Caffè Motta was a meeting point for the Milanese, a place where the urban trajectories of the bourgeoisie intersected those of the city's students, intellectuals and artists. v

We had a hard time finding a place in Milan with decent dinner (and no reservation) on Sunday evening, but based on recommendation from a friend - we wanted to give this place a shot. It was totally worth it! Whilst they charge you 13 Euro entrance fee (that is also the price for a drink), you get a very... More

I don't like to write reviews that are not based on a good experience, but I will. Because the staff here were not friendly and not service minded at all. And then we had three different persons talking to us during this time and all of them were the same. It took a lot of time before we could order... More

We got here around 7:30pm and it was perfect as the queue began right around this time. It's a bit of a wait but worth it! The drinks are lush and the appetisers are delish! Enjoy x

Everyone should go here on a sunny day in Milan! Lovely terrace with an amazing view of the cathedral and a great drinks selection (the frozen passion fruit daiquiri and the aperol with fruit were delicious!). There is normally quite a queue to get in but it tends to move reasonably quickly. They should make the indoor bar into a... More

Gorgeous bar which is very modern, there was a long queue but worth it. I think this was mainly for people who wanted to sit on the terrace. The cocktails were amazing, the barman made a strawberry mojito for me which was not on the menu. The cocktails were €13 each

This was very beautiful, we came here for cocktails and aperitifs after a long day of work and enjoyed the evening on the terrazzo looking at the beautiful piazza.

We love a cheeky Aperol Spritz so trying this place was a no-brainer on a sunny February day in Milan. It's situated at the top of a store overlooking the Piazza del Duomo so, on paper it has the best location in Milan. I think the management realise they have a captive audience because they have a controlled entry system... More

The Aperol bar is a great place for drinks and a fantastic view over the piazza in front of the Duomo. We went there on New Years eve and is was a beautiful view of the piazza and the Duomo as the sun was setting. We found that the drinks (Aperol spritz of course) were very reasonable at 8 euros... Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
