It is located at the boundary of the historic center at the wall, which surrounded the old city. It is one of the historic city gates. It is an interesting building. It is worth to see, but not a must. But when you nearby, you shuold pay attention.

The monument isnt much to see in itself, but its a landmark centered in the area to easily find your way. Plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood for all budgets. Some places to shop, but its not upscale shopping like other districts in Milan. Worth a walk through the area if the weather is nice.

This beatiful door was built in 1814 to a design by Luigi Cagnola and was the sixth door on Spanish Walls on the way to Pavia. This direction had already had ancient doors : one in Medieval times and even earlier one in Roman times.

The beautiful door isolated in the large square beside the Darsena was rebuilt in 1814 on design of Luigi Cagnola (1762-1833)

In case of visiting I Navigli district, it is a chance to have a look at this historical gate and the pillars.

We had a few days in Milan and were so happy to discover this neighborhood. It has lovely boutique shops by young designers and plenty of affordable nice dining options. It has a lot of younger people around and a great hip vibe. Felt like most of the people there were locals and not tourists. It was our favorite neighborhood of our visit.

Porta Ticinese and specially Corso Porta Ticinese are the adequate place to start your evening in Milano. Between city center and Navigli nightlife district. Many bars, "aperitivos" and "cool" restaurants. There's a good mood around the area with many people getting together in the street. The "Colonne di San Lorenzo" is one of the most active areas and worth a visit.

The gate itself isn't all that interesting, but a stroll down Corso di Porta Ticinese is a nice way to spend an hour or two. It's a funky little street with boutiques of locally made clothes, artisanal panettone, vintage jewelry, etc. Some very interesting shops.

Porto Ticinese is one of the city gates of Milan. It is at the start of the Grand Canal in the Naviglio area. It is a long walk from the Duomo. My wife and I enjoyed the Brera neighborhood much more than the Naviglio area of Milan.

It is just a short walk from the start of the Grand Canal (Naviglio Grande), but I was not impressed by this city gate. It is just not that interesting. If you want to take a picture, beware of the myriad of wires and cables from the electric tram crisscrossing the city gate and the sky.
