About
Don't venture into this legendary shopping district unless fully armed...with a fat checking account and impeccable designer duds: only the crème de la crème dare enter these hallowed boutiques, and shoppers are expected to look the part.

The area
Neighbourhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

This is the area where all the big designers have a flag ship boutique. Unfortunately the windows and the displays from the outside were very small and we just wanted to do some window shopping and have a nice stroll. The side walks are narrow and traffic is allowed in all the streets. Not a nice coffee place in the area to get a rest. If you want to see glamorous fashion boutiques : go to Paris.

Quadrilatero d'oro 'or golden quadrangle, a neighborhood where all the major fashion houses such as Armani, Hugo Boss, Versace, Chanel, Prada, Gucci, etc. have a branch or their own flag store.

Today it is apparently especially busy at Louis Vuitton, where they are lining up outside. Maybe they do a promotion and you get two handbags for the price of one? To be honest, this neighborhood is a bit disappointing, because we expected more bling bling and glamor here. In fact, it is a poorly maintained street with little appearance. Then we found the "rich neighborhood" in Rome much more impressive.

Although mainly for window shopping, at least for regular people, this area of Milan is not to be missed, since it's one of the city's trademarks.

As Milan is famous for all its fashion brands there is of course an area with all the high end shopping. Every Italian and international luxury brand is represented here, what is Rue St Honore is to Paris is Quadilatero d"Oro in Milan. Great for window shopping but also home to quite a few cafes like Cova and Marchesi. A must visit when in Milan.

Interesting looking at some of the different designs - like an open air gallery of fashion - and I guess if you're going to come to Milan... But a whole host of other things I'd personally fritter my own money on :-)

Design, luxury, glamour... And four streets of it! I`d say that`s unique and worth at least a short visit, even if your budget doesn`t stretch beyond window shopping or your lifestyle differs.

Quadrilatero d'Oro
It is the famous fashion district of Milan called the Fashion Quadrilatero della. You can fin here upscale shopping streets (Monte Napoleone), apparently one of the most expensive street in Europe with fashion and jewellery. It is said that the street is famous for its shoes, it was difficult for me to judge. You can find in Quadrilatero many well-known fashion designers and high-end boutiques. If you want to shop in Milan and find good deals, go to the outlet near Milan. There are several excellent outlets within a radius of 80 km from Milan. You can go there on the highway and it takes up to an hour.
