The area
Neighbourhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

We have been there ion Saturday evening. The area was full of life and crowded. It is a promenade on both sides of the water and there were a lot of restaurants and bars. There was played loud music in some of the bars. It seamed to be the evenig life area of Milan.

Bit of wasteland canal?

It’s ok if you were passing by and needed somewhere to sit and eat a sandwich.

Might be nice in the sun.

But not the Camden lock or Amsterdam they make it out to be.

The artificial lake at the end of the Nаviglio canal is not very interesting. There are many restaurants, but it is possible to walk along the water

Went here for the first time April 14th. A very chilled out vibe with street musicians, cafes and bars. I got some cold drinks from an Asian superMarket adjacent to GUD Milano restaurant… sat in the afternoon sun enjoy the atmosphere. Italian stylish place

This popular hotspot where many locals offers lunches, dinners, appetizers, brunches and street foods.
The Darsena is now a great place to visit, not only at night, after the restored made for Expo 2015 ( before it was aim a sorry state ) .
The ancient dock of Milano as become a nice meeting point for those visiting the Milanese canals.
Here the waters of the Ticino river arrive trough the Naviglio Grande and go towards Pavia through the Naviglio Pavese.
In 1603 when it was built, it was real port ( in third place for tons transit in 1953 ) then , with the closure of the circle of canals it became a tourist attraction.

It’s a beautiful piace near the Centre of Milan. It was redeveloped not long ago. This is one of the most popular places in Milan’s night life scene. In fact here you can find awesome restaurants and bars. Sometimes this piace is used for major tourist events. You can also spend time near the water and watch the ducks. Overall Darsena is a meeting place where many groups of friends can hang out together.

It is recommended to spend some time at this location at the intersection of Darsena with Navigli. It is a very beautiful area by the rivers and the colorful buildings, and many nice outlets and restaurants/cafes.

Until 1953 this was the port of the city , here arrive and ends Naviglio Grande and start the Naviglio Pavese.
Now is a good place for a walk or for a good sunbathing lying on the pier

Originally Darsena was built as a trade port in the beginning of the 17th century. Now it is a favourite place for both locals and tourists to hang out, have a nice meal or just an "aperitivo" in some of the numerous restaurants and bars in the area. The place is always lively, with lots of people, but it gets really vibrant in the evenings. It is very nice indeed just to wander along the canals. The place is very photogenic as well.

There are a couple of restaurants on the bank of Darsena and a small market at the end, near the Porta Ticinese. It's a pleasant walk along its banks on your way to the Grand Canal; Naviglio Grande.
