About
Locals and travelers flock to this quaint neighborhood for its inviting atmosphere, delicious food, and great drinks. The Navigli area is centered on the two remaining canals that once encircled Milan. During the day, you can stroll along the waterfront to spot beautiful street art and visit historic landmarks like Vicolo dei Lavandai. Grab a spot by the Darsena pond at sunset to people-watch and relax before heading to a cozy bistro for dinner. Complete your visit with some gelato and drinks at the local pubs for a night out. The traditional Fiera di Sinigaglia flea market takes place here once a week too. – Tripadvisor

Neighbourhood: Navigli
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.

    Beautiful, bustling
Beautiful and bustling. So pretty and different from the center of Milan. We enjoyed eating canal-side but get there early if you want to partake in the aperitif. We had to wait about half an hour to get a table for five. Bring mosquito repellent!! We got chewed up!

    I Navigli
The name of the district is translated from Italian as "canals", as the appearance resembled Venice. The Grand Canal appeared first in 1178, and had a length of more than 50 kilometers. It was he who was used to deliver the snow-white marble from which the Duomo Cathedral in Milan was built.

    Good food and drinks
I actually really liked this place. You have to walk down to get some quieter spots away from the loud party bars. We had the best drinks and food there. Take mosquito repellant as you will get bitten. The only thing that ruins it is the constant peddlers who try to sell you something, the government should really put a stop to this as they are irritating. Lots of nice restaurants but hunt around as there are many!

    Navigli Canal October 2022
Visited here last October in 2022. We had a brilliant time, weather was lovely, plenty of bars and restaurants to choose. Top tip…Get takeaway drinks and enjoy them on the canal !! Some bars do deals where they’re half the price so we had drinks which were €5 instead of €10. Lovely canals in Milan
I spent a half of a day along the lovely canals of Milan. It was not crowded with tourists and I was amazed by the restaurants and street vendors. I decided to have lunch at one of the restaurants and I was pretty much there alone until my desert came out. The area was so calm and peaceful and walking along the canals was great.

Such A Different Part Of Milan
We hopped off the hop on hop off tour bus here & had a lovely walk around the canal area of Milan. We were there in the daytime/October so fairly quiet. Lots of bars/cafes/restaurants everywhere & plenty of artisan stalls selling items. Loved the area.

The canal is a great place to go after wandering around the city. We went there for 2 nights. You can go on a boat up and down but we didn’t bother. Was nice to drink aperitifs and just chill. We were there very late and it felt safe. Metro nearby and some lovely restaurants for all budgets.

It's a lovely spot to unwind at the end of the day, with numerous bars and restaurants lining the canals. Many locals and visitors alike gather here for "Aperitivos," where you pay €10 for a drink and receive a generous plate of food with it. Alternatively, you can enjoy a drink and then dine at one of the nearby restaurants. Prices are on par with Milan's standards, so it's not the cheapest option, but definitely worth it for the experience.

The Navigli area of Milan is vibrant. It is a canal surrounded by restaurants, bars and cafes. There are foot bridges to get from one side to the other. It is very pretty and fun.

A lovely picturesque little area, although we visited in the winter and in the afternoon. I can see it would be worthwhile visiting in the summer or an evening.

Maybe it's better in the summer... my visit was a few days before Christmas, during the day. Yes, there are canals. Yes, they have an interesting history. They also have garbage and graffiti everywhere, kiosks along the streets all selling the same, totally junky stuff, and dozens of restaurants trying to lure you in. My recommendation... go to Amsterdam.

I went during the day which is usually a mistake when a place is known for “ nightlife and fun” and it turned out to indeed be a mistake. It was dirty, graffiti everywhere and high tourist prices. This place can definitely be missed.

Visited this neighborhood on a rainy day in late October. Enjoyed walking along the canal and dropping into local shops. Great spot to enjoy an apertivo as well!
