The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Many great museums with various interesting things to see. For me the ticket was free as I visited the museums after 14:00 on a working day.

First mondays, museums are free, including those at the Castel. Must see is the Pieta Rondanini, one of Michelangelo's last works (not completed). Wandering through the remaining museums was educational. The grounds and buildings are something to see for themselves, full of history and beautifully maintained.

The visit to the Castello Sforzesco definitely must include the castle museums, all comprised in 1 ticket. They are situated on 3 floors of the castle around the 2 courtyards - the Ducal and the Rocchetta, mostly adjoining, and so different in what is exhibited there with very valuable masterpieces by world-famous artists. The collections on display range from pre-historic and Egyptian artefacts in the Archaeological Museum; ancient art - sarcophagus, statues, etc; lots of paintings by Italian artists in the Pinacoteca; a vast collection of musical instruments of various shapes and design; plenty wooden sculptures and furniture; the Armoury; a large number of exhibits in the Museum of Applied Arts, such as crockery, scientific instruments, tapestries, objects made of gold, silver and ivory. And, of course, the Pieta Rondanini Museum that houses Michelangelo's statue depicting Mary's mourning over Christ's dead body that he had been working on till 6 days before he died.
The museums are, no doubt, worth a visit!

Thanks! Do you know you can plan your own tour? On the official website download the floor plan of the building, the brochures to find out more information on the Rondanini Pietà Museum or... a short guide to discover the highlights of the Castello Sforzesco and a guide for children ... and much more! Best regards!

Something for everyone. One ticket gets you into all the exhibitions except the Leonardo which is extra. Also there are huge queues for that part but no queues for the rest of the exhibitions. There is a small cafe in the centre and plenty of places to sit and walk around. Very good value and if you climb up the stairs whilst in the galleries you get a great view.

Dear Helen D the ticket is valid for one day and includes the entrance to all the Castle Museums and Leonardo mai visto exhibitions. You probably didn't have the time for Leonardo exhibition because of the queues but the ticket had been valid. For a better experience, we suggest to visit the Castle Museums on morning time, when they are less crowdy. Best regards!

Came here on my third trip to Milan. It will be necessary to spend at least three hours. Lots and lots of museums with just about anything you may want to look at. I went on the 3-day museum pass which is a great deal at 13 Euros, one day entry is already 10 Euros.

Great set of museums located in the Castle, covering wide range of topics, from guns and armour, to fine porcelain and musical instruments.

We waited almost 2 hours in the sun for a ticket that we later found out was basically useless! They say the last moment to enter is at 5pm and that the museum closes at 5.30pm but actually even if you do get in at 5 or before, they close everything except for the Pinacoteca (which is nothing special). The staff is incompetent and rude and they don’t know anything! Really bad experience! It’s a pity because the museum itself would be really cool!

The poor administration makes the visit excruciatingly time consuming and boring. The castle is a series of badly organised and looooong queues
