So many beautiful rooms but Sala di Giganti with its ancient graffiti was my favourite. The square and garden give a real tranquil feeling. If you are unfamiliar with Giulio Romano’s work it would be worthwhile to read up on him and on the palazzo before your visit in order to get the most out of it. A little sterile as a property but the murals are breath taking. Take time to really study them - so much detail.

Overrated and unnecessary especially if you've been to Palazzo Ducale on the other side of town which if I had to choose would be the one of these two I would visit. It's not as if there is nothing worthwhile to see here (quite the contrary) it's just that unlike other "palaces" the rooms are so similar it can get quite monotonous quite quickly even if you occasionally stumble upon something special.

Impressive palace and impressive gardens. Art from ceiling to the floor. Just amazing. Spent quite some time here, and worth every minute.

We were not really sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised and amazed by the beautiful art and interiors of the palazzo. Also they had a nice little exhibition of Egyptian artifacts. Don't miss this when visiting Mantova.

I will make this short and sweet, very sweet. Go. Some excellent rooms here, including the amazing and unique Sala dei Giganti (Room of the Giants). Aside from being simply magnificent artwork and wonderfully creative, it’s one huge painting that wraps from the ceiling onto the walls. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. I could go back to Mantua just to see this room. That is how good it is. When I had first seen a brief video segment on a CD of Italy we had purchased years ago, I had heard of Mantua, but knew nothing about it. After I saw this brief video, I was intrigued and thinking I would like to see Mantua. After doing some research, I was certain I wanted to visit it. It was included in the planning phases of several trips, but did not make the final cut. This time it did. And Palazzo Te is one of the reasons why it had to be seen. And of course, the marvelous Palazzo Ducale/Castello San Giorgio complex. Not to mention the basilica and other delights. Just another one of those Italian cities that would be one of the top two or three places to visit in most other countries. In Italy, it probably waits for a third or fourth or even fifth trip to be included and most people will never get there and won’t even know what they missed. What a shame.
