Took the train from Milan to Stresa, and walked to Belgirate. The walk itself is ok, but lacks any stunning views. Still worth doing as the path is lush and green

We began the route from Belgirate to Stresa ( took a taxi-about 20 euros) and I believe that it was the right choice. I didn't find that the route is clearly marked. Several times we were really confused where to go. If you are visiting...More

Kids wanted to explore and had read abouth this route previous to going. Lovely and delightful. The views were well worth the steep uphill walk in places. We didn't walk all the way to Belgrite as you can always stop and come back when you...More

Not sure if we went off track or not but it took nearly 3 hours. Felt like an amazon adventure. Recommend you take plenty of water and mosquito repellent. Took cheap bus ride back to Stresa

We did this walk mid October and found the trail easy to follow as the markers had recently been repainted. It is not a leisurely stroll, good walking shoes are recommended, if you are reasonably fit then you should be o.k. The walk takes about...More

We took the Chestnut Route on a nice October afternoon. Someone had recently marked the trail, so we had no trouble keeping on it once we found it. This is more strenuous than "tourist", but you can take your time. Good shoes are important as...More

More strenuous than the "tourist" rating suggests. You'd need good walking shoes at least. Views of the lake are rare, because of course you're in a wood.

Please wear good walking shoes for this trip, great walk and lovely experience. Just watch for insects or use insect repellent. We took 3 hours to finish.
