There are three islands, all different in many ways. You can buy a ticket that incudes the boat to all three and entry to the palaces on Isola Bells and Isola Madre. They are well worth visiting.

This is the number 1 must do. Ignore the boat “captains” at Stresa ( and the official looking cubicle outside of the main ferry terminal) and other locations who tell you that they are the ones to take you around. The main ferry company (large...More

What a palazzo! Incredible wealth and beauty at the villa on Isole Borromme. While we preferred Isola Madre botanical gardens, don't miss these more formal ones. I would definitely skip Isola Pescateri. It was very crowded and nothing special to see.

The famous Isola Bella attracts thousands, the Palazzo itself is interesting but it's the gardens people come to see. Formal gardens, very manicured and stylised, filled with statues. It's almost a case of trying to fit in as many statues as possible. Peacocks wandering around...More

Yes, you can. You have to take care of the closing period of the amazing places on the Islands. Usually in Autumn and Winter the palaces and gardens are closed even if the free parts are available all the year.
