    Wow gorgeous
what a fabulous city. the old town was once protected by a moat complete with draw bridge. these days the moat is still in use but the draw bridge is permanently down. a word do not try to drive here park and walk up.

    Beautiful Sirmione
The Historic Centre of Sirmione is beautiful but does get very hot and crowded during the day. By late afternoon/early evening, the crowds die down and you can appreciate how beautiful it all is. There are lots of gelato shops serving all manner of flavours (including dairy free). There are also loads of restaurants - our favourite was Valentino. There are also various shops including clothes and leather bag shops - what we did notice is that there wasn't a supermarket or Spar type shop so make sure you don't forget your toothbrush! The one surprising thing about Sirmione is how early everything shuts. I guess they make all their money during the day and don't need to stay open late!

Pleasant few hours out of season
Having visited Lake Como in September when it was much quieter, we happened to be driving nearby to Sirmione in January, and so we detoured. I am glad we did. Yes it was cold and windy, not all of the shops and restaurants were open, but it did mean we could enjoy it much more. Reading other people’s reviews, and seeing how small it is with one way in/out, I can only imagine how horribly busy it must be in season. Didn’t eat or drink, just walked and headed out. Lovely views and a pleasant walk.

Historical, old town on the Sirmione peninsula. Clean and safe, at least we thought so. Tourist-oriented for sure, but still good to visit.

Every corner has hidden gems, if you can manage to reach there. Difficult to go by car or by bus, always traffic problem. But at the end worth to see it, magnificent place to visit.

It is a nice Historic area and you can walk on the shore.Penisnula Sirmione is a kind of place you have to visit or exploring calmly in order to appreciate every detail.
Unforgatable the atmosphere and how this part of Italy is so wonderful.

This is a nice historic centre that is well worth spending 1hr to 2 hours slowly exploring. Take time for a drink along the way at one of the many restaurants/bars.

The Sirmione peninsula is incredibly pretty and the old town is fascinating and very picturesque. If you are on a day trip you will likely be with many other tourists, if you are staying overnight the tourist numbers will dwindle as the day goes on.
I stayed in the Hotel Corte Regina which is a highly recommended hotel and the snack bar opposite is also excellent. I also found some poor cafes and expensive restaurants whilst staying. There are no mini- or supermarkets here so everything is fairly expensive. Go to the tourist information centre near Castillo Scaligeri and purchase a bus ticket (1 euro into downtown Sirmione, 1 Euro return) and get off at stop 9 and look for a Co-op or Migross supermarket where you can buy reasonably priced groceries and wine. The bus is on a constant loop so you can't get lost.
The ferry is an excellent way to get around the lake in style and reasonably cheaply - 1 way from Peschiera to Sirmione is 5 Euros but check the timetable as there may be a few hours between some sailings.
Overall, Sirmione is well worth a visit, check out the main tower in the Castillo for the best views of the area.

Worth a walk about, but beware the expensive parking. Some very nice little streets, but crowded (in early May).
