I went in the quiet season so no lines. It was a cheap way to see Como and really cool. Once at the top, the signs are not too clear to get to the lighthouse which is where I wanted to go. In the summer I'm sure you follow the flock, but otherwise it was tricky to get to the... More

Lots of talk about this 'attraction.' It has been around for decades, so one would think they would be better organized and have a safer more friendly way of dealing with the always present crowds. Tip, go early in morn or at night to buy your tickets when less busy, then you can skip the long lines when you are... More

The view from the top is amazing, walk to the viewing platform turn left at the top and follow the road to the end. Great little cafe at end too.

The funicular railway in Como is absolutely worth a trip up the mountain - great views of Como and the region There are also many walks once you are up on the top of the hill - the walk to Volts lookout / monument is great but a fair walk and could be arduous for some - probably 39 minutes... .......to get a better view of the spectacle beneath of Como Town and The Lake beyond. And wow what a view! Spectacular and worth the reasonable cost and effort. Whilst at the top there are a number of restaurants, cafes and touristy retail outlets. The Funicular Cars run about every 15 minutes or so and were very clean. A must... More

My only complaint at all was that it was very warm as we traveled in the funicular, but this was a great activity, amazing views, we spent several hours at the top walking around the beautiful little town. It was a really good choice our first day in Como.

The start of the funicular is a 10 - 15 min leisurely walk from the main square on the lake at Como. Once at the top, there are a couple of shops & some nice little restaurants with wonderful views, so you could finish your visit there if you wanted to. If you're feeling energetic, you can do the walk... More

I found this funicular on line -on a day trip to Lake Como it was easy to find -walking distance from the ferry. The price is good and the cable car is lovely going up a steep climb. Well worth a visit

About a 15 minute walk from Como square (facing harbor). The train is quick 15 minute ride to top. There are time/distance markers to landmark. The lighthouse is not as close as they say, and the hills are ever present. It was a warm day, so bailed on lighthouse. Walked along the main roads to nice overlook next to B&B.... More
