This town was the first place in Italy I stayed at on my first trip to Italy. It was a lovely welcome. Quiet, calm and with bits of lovely walks towards the North and also Southwards (towards the main Como town). Not as bustling as...More

Another quaint Lake Como village with easy ferry links to Bellagio and Varenna with far fewer visitors than Bellagio. Definitely worth a stop for a walk along the promenade or to stay in better value hotels than Bellagio. You can buy either a one day...More

We took the ferry over to Menaggio from Varenna one afternoon - it's a lovely town, more of a working town than Varenna or Bellagio but we really liked the feel of it. We wanted to do the hike to La Crocetta - inquired at...More

Only small but stunning. A nice place to walk around. Restaurants were really nice. Buildings were amazing. Down side is there’s not much to do there.

If you go to Menaggio and take the ferry in 10 minutes you will get to Varenna. It's much better than Menaggio. I spent 3 days in Menaggio and after a short visit in Varenna I was really impressed.

Hmmm. I personally wouldn't recommend cycling but plenty of people do. Roads are just a bit crazy and busy at times. Plenty of boats and the ferry to take you over to the other places around Lake Como
