Why take the bus when you can take a cable

Defiantly an experience that should be tried. We went in Feb and the crowds were not too bad yet both cars were packed in like sardines, I am sure this attraction is very popular... read more

the best and to my mind the only way to get to the old city. fun too ! it would be a hell of an uphill walk and I don't know if coaches go up there. its only a couple of euros for a ticket, and the views are great on the way up/down.

Defiantly an experience that should be tried. We went in Feb and the crowds were not too bad yet both cars were packed in like sardines, I am sure this attraction is very popular in the main sasons so give a lot of time to wait and expect to be up and close with strangers for the 5 minute ride... If you fly to/from Bergamo airport, Bergamo Alta Citta is worth to visit. How to get there? Take a bus to Bergamo bus station, then the city bus 1A, 4 stops and you near Funicolare Bergamo Alta. Spectacular views, very nice old town, please visit Santa Maria Maggiore church. You will be impressed by tapestries and decor richness. It is... More

If you're planning to visit Bergamo Alta (the highest part of the city) there is a quick and cheap way to reach it using the funicolare transport. You can easily buy the tickets there and enjoy the nice view and avoid to use the car. The staff is really friendly and welcoming and the view is really impressive.

Bergamo is not just an airport. Explore the lower town and then take the Funicolare to the upper town. The views are outstanding. But remember to take to two Funicolares', the first one takes you half way. Explore here and walk through the wonderful streets, take in the smells and then catch the second car to the top. This is... More

This is a delightful way to travel. You easily get a ticket at a cafe bar or at the funicular stop. It is very cheap and easy to find. It is a very convenient way to travel up to Città Altarnun.

We were told to get off a stop early to get the Funicolare up to the Alta and that was the best advice ever. The Funicolare was so awesome, the bus ticket we bought covered the journey cost anyway and it was better way to travel up than the bus. The tram went up a very steep hill which gave... More

Who doesn't like gondolas? Both ways. It's worth the price. Park the car and take the Funicular! Cite Alta is very walkable.
