The road to the 'old town' is uphill with views of the river and new town. Once inside the old town it is a real life town with local people and local, traditional shops. Very hill with some very narrow, damp and dark alley ways to wander and a very old, interesting church on the hill. Washing hanging over the... More

Drove in from Monte Carlo, about half an hour depending on traffic. The town has character, the Friday market is a great place to find a few bargains. It's a pity the town is a little run down. Its a far cry from the opulence of Monte Carlo. Still worth a visit.

We had a wander round but there isn't a great deal to see. There are much nicer places in the nearby valleys. The new town nearby is quite rough and polluted with traffic.

Beautiful and friendly. Couldn't speak the language but the Italians didn't mind. They were all very helpful and liked to smile a lot.

Even on a rainy day, the open air market was a special place to visit. From fresh, colorful vegetables to vibrant hued flowers to sausages and local cheeses, my husband and I loved the alive, happy vibe. And, if you're looking for authentic pasta, pastries or other tasty delights, you will find them there. The best part of this experience... More

Incredible, you cross the river into this old town from the new one and it feels like stepping back in time, going back a couple of hundred years. Don't just visit the cathedral and piazza, do take the time to walk around the narrow streets and passageways. A couple of hours is more than enough for your visit but worth... More

A typical coastal old town, similar to nearby Menton but not as well kept. Luckily some buildings have been taken care of, notably the thousand year old romantic cathedral with an interesting crypte. The view over the sea is splendid, what is missing are nice cafes and restaurants and it is heartbreaking to see how modern shop doors and other details... We took the train from Nice to go to the Friday Market and it was packed with both vendors and customers. It was a really fun day and we loved the huge assortment of things for sale. It was a very lively atmosphere and definitely worth the trip. We got parmesan cheese, pastries, handmade Italian leather gloves and Lemoncello. Prices... More

This is how you take yourself to Ventimiaglia Alta - the Old Town on foot: 1) From the railway station take the second (I think) turn to the right, look for this corner "Perfume' boutique. Don't follow the blue arrow, you need the street with the red 'no go' sign! 2) Keep the right-hand direction, cross the bridge with this... More
