It would have been a wonderful experience in an enchanting place if it hadn't been that at a certain point a friend and I had to defend a lady from our group of visitors who was photographing one of the few truly original things about the place: a 300-year-old climbing wisteria present in the property's garden. The lady was attacked in a rude and impetuous manner by a gentleman who we later realized was the owner, who ordered her to immediately delete the photo taken from her mobile phone, so as not to film 3 or 4 people having breakfast under the wisteria. It should be underlined that the lady had framed a space with a view of the sea in the background, excluding the people present and that at the beginning of the visit they told us that we could photograph anything with the sole exception of the abbey tapestries. All this did not prevent the owner from addressing that lady rudely and with arrogance to the point of hastily leaving the wisteria garden to chase her and make her delete the photo. When I kindly pointed out to the owner that there is no rule that allows him to force the lady to remove the photo from her mobile phone, he became further annoyed to the point of trying to push his way, even pushing me on the shoulder and saying that the place was his. and he did what he wanted and because of people like us he would have closed the visits. Perhaps, given his temperament, he should actually think about it since it was certainly not an example of hospitality.

It is just open to the public on the first and third Sunday of the season months. So, in spite of the beautiful brochure you can find everywhere, it is not a touristical attraction of Portofino area. It is used by the owners as a place for social events

We went in a party in June. Gardens are very beautiful at this time, excellent service and an impressive view. We will never forget this event, the place is unique.

Our tour of Portofino was short but sweet. The view after the climb to the top of the harbor is truly a stunning and classic adventure with uneven stones and a somewhat treacherous slope coming back down, but oh, the view! Stop in the shops on the walk down and find some lovely treasures, including handmade lace.

Hi! As Hilary has asked above, is it possible to see the gardens only, and how much does it cost> Thanks!

Hi, is it possible to visit the gardens only, if do you still need to book, and what is the cost? Thanks, H.
