This is a nice but small cloister remains. Located just outside the old town gate. So worth a look at when you are heading into the old town. Was locked early morning and evening when we visited but you can see through the fencing.

Caruggi is right at the heart of ancient Genoa. Modern Genovese have no respect for this place as right next to it, widespread illegal activities are taking place. Do not visit this place.

Ran across this by the home of Christopher Columbus but didn't know what it was. Signs all in Italian. Besides the name, I still don't really know what it was - better check with Google!

This is just an older area of town, but they don't pay too much attention to cleanliness here. About the best thing we saw was this old building with columns that happens to be down from Christopher Columbus's House. Not much to see here and I certainly would not recommend seeking it out. We were just walking to the house, so we passed through and stopped momentarily when we saw it.

Intriguing in every way, old Genoa is worth walking through the narrow alleys. Its safe during the day, check it out and walk through history.

My family and I visited this 'old town' during mid-day in Genova and we noticed that people loitering around in back alleys. Smell of piss as others mentioned here before. It was are very sad and disheartening to see, for this area could be so much more if it was preserved properly.

Google map mark this place a Columbus house...etc..DON'T waste your time. There is nothing to see really

We were shocked and disappointed at this supposed "sight". We always enjoy wandering around the old of town of towns. But this area wreaked of urine, was filled with boarded up buildings and covered with graffiti. Not even interesting graffiti. Absolutely nothing to say about this place other than avoid.

Genova is maybe less known than Venice but it has its own charme made by history and past wealth. Beautiful buildings and churches in each and every corner. I would suggest Genoa to every one who is looking for a treasure to be discovered.
Plus, you can find good local food and cheap as focaccia or farinata.

Great authentic feel of the old city, with many narrow cobbled streets and small shops and caffes. Great place to wander about.
