    Cathedral San Lorenzo in Genoa
Loved the Cathedral San Lorenzo. The exterior is beautiful Ligurian black and white. We found the dog (legend of the sculptor who carved the dog in memory of a dog who visiting during the construction of the cathedral). It in on the right as you enter. It is worth it to read the history before going. Truly a highlight in Genoa.

Cattedrale di San Lorenzo in Genova, Italy
this magnificent cathedral is near palazzo Ducale and not too far from the aquarium. When we visited it, the exterior had a lot of scaffolding in place because of some restorations being done. On the outside, two lions statues guard the entrance. The interior is very beautiful but only the part near the entrance can be visited. It felt like being in a museum. I just wished we could see it without the scaffolding and work in progress.

    Short visit
We were just visiting for the day from our cruise as we happened upon this wonderful cathedral. We even got the end of a Mass with a bishop and about 5 priests. There were not too many in the congregation. We lit candles for our loved deceased. The architecture is outstanding.

    Cathedral with Amazing Facade
The outside of this cathedral was just incredibly beautiful. The craftsmanship and artistry are really worth looking at. I loved the variety of colors and patterns in tilework on the outside of the building. Inside the church, it was just as beautiful. It is a relatively large cathedral found in the old part of Genoa. It is still a working church, so going to mass here would be a possibility.

    transcending its epoch
Impressive edifice. Post romanesque Gothic occupying an area of impeded topographical prominence, i.e. less visible from a distance or on a hill. Striped masonry of the interior has transcendental value whereas the baroquish innards allow for a different narrative. Artistic treasures and jewelry collections exist within and along. Mannerist Tavarone, stained glass and works by artists Matteo Civitali, Taddeo Carlone, and the Della Portas are of value. The structure of the interior is of value not in the proportions or the stained glass which are overawed by the frescoes nonetheless standing their ground. The lions at the entrance and the undetonated shell add insult to the not effected injury.

It really is a beautiful and magnificent cathedral, not really a must visit but if you happen to be close to it or if you’re a architect looking for inspiration, it wouldn’t hurt going inside for a few minutes.

A beautiful cathedral befitting the oldest Italian city - the facade is fascinating with the Genoan stripe pattern seen other places in the city.

Nice cathedral to visit, wouldn’t say it’s a must if you have seen many cathedrals in main European cities.

After traveling in Europe for many months and see many beautiful cathedrals would put this high on list.

Having said that still a nice cathedral to visit. Just wouldn’t go out of my way to see it.

This cathedral fits into this older section surrounded by the many residences. A small square in the front allows you to see the grandeur and design. Inside it presents a dark appearance even in the middle of the day. There is a lot of art and sculptures to see.
