Don't go to Portofino, don't bother with the Cinque Terre, just wander the couple of km of the Promenade A.Garibaldi from Nervi harbour. Disappear amongst the Italians. Wander, eat gelato, sip coffee, eat pizza, get on a train, wander to the shore and swim, eat, suit up and don't ever leave

This is a fabulous place to go to get up close and personal with the Med on the Italian Riviera. It is immediately accessible from Nervi train station, and from the Nervi parks and it is close to the art galleries in the Nervi parks.

This strand /promenade gives you a nice overview from
Genoa to Neri… just stroll
Along and find an ice cream, coffee, meal
Or beach club… locals and tourists a like. We picked a beach club and relaxed, paddle
Boarded along shoreline to explore
From the sea . Quick cab ride from
City center ..seems like a trolly or rail is going in so while area and many of the beach clubs have been scrapped and are under major
Construction
..seems like a few years until
Whole area will be renewed and really spectacular .

It's difficult to establish records in this field; even if we want to restrict the term “promenade” to paths other than the seaside boulevards. I therefore give this title to my review only to indicate that this walk could be in contention for a hypothetical prize.
First, the promenade is pedestrian only. Not only are motor vehicles (and even bicycles) not allowed, but cars don't even pass by. The Genoa-La Spezia railway overlooks the promenade in some places, but its presence isn't comparable to that of a busy avenue.
Born in the mid-nineteenth century by transforming a previous path for fishermen and farmers, the walk today looks like a path of about 2 Kms in a wonderful environment.
The coast below the promenade isn't just any coast. High and rocky, composed of dark metamorphic rocks, broken up to the point of unbelievable, it forms picturesque coves and scenic promontories: pure delight for the eye.
The view is constantly attracted by the promontory of Portofino, which to the east manifests its presence reaching out into the sea.
In some cases it's possible to descend from the promenade to the sea, swim or relax on the rocks. Thanks to the climate of Nervi, milder than that of the center of Genoa, the walk allows enjoyment even in the central months of winter. Small bathing establishments, bars and restaurants are present here and there.
The Genova Nervi railway station allows you to reach the center of the promenade very easily.
In short, it is one of the most desirable places you can imagine.

Sensational beautiful seaside walk with beautiful setting. Benches and many vistas and ancient rock walls. We loved Nervi!

Beautiful place! Easy to reach from Genova, there is a train station in Nervi and from there you can start the walk otherwise it is about 10 km from Genova center. There are busses as well I think. It is possible to go into the water but there are many rocks so be careful. Pleasant atmosphere and beautiful sunsets. Just enjoy.

The views all along this clifftop walk right over the seaside are simply beautiful (see our uploaded photos) and you can enjoy it at any pace. We accessed the walk by getting off the train from Genoa Brignole at the Nervi station and taking the tunnel under the tracks. If you cannot find it you can ask where is the Lungomare which is how this type of seaside walkway is more generally called by the locals. The parco di Nervi is above the walkway and the cliffs drop down into the Mediterranean, making for very dramatic views especially in the late afternoon which is when we went to avoid the hottest part of this summer day. As you look out to the sea, the hills rising steeply from the sea at your left is actually the Portofino peninsula.

Walking along passeggiata Anita Garibaldi is wonderful although there some parts of the pavement that are broken and the municipality hasn't fixed yet. You can walk, relax at the Nervi's park and have a rest on many 9f the benches along the walk. There are also restaurants and bars a little bit expensive, but it's worthy.

Very popular by the locals. Near the station you have a nice and quiet park and the walk along the ocean path is very relaxing and scenic.
