A bit of a climb but interesting to see all the little alleyways on the way up.

What an amazing spot when you reach the top. Take time just to relax and enjoy!!

Refreshments can be purchased at the entrance.

Entrance fee is €2 per person.

We wandered up a street that surprisingly led to the "castle" and paid our 2 euro entrance fee as we never visited it on our other trips to Vernazza. You will have a nice panoramic view but nothing else. The best part was that it wasn't as crowded as most other places in the Cinque Terre.

Castello Doria offers a lovely panoramic view.

Even though we hiked the surrounding Cinque Terre trails we enjoyed the view from this vantage point.

There is a 2 Euro entrance fee.

The description ‘castle’ promises a lot more than it delivers. If you’re expecting anything like a castle, you will be sorely disappointed.
What you see here is the rounded tower which is all that remains from a long since vanished medieval fortress. You can’t go into the tower. It is fenced off and looking a little uncared for.
The castle dates back to the 13th century, perhaps even the 11th.
Today, it is little more than a good lookout point. Perched high on a rocky ridge, it is accessible via steep stairs.
From this height, you have an excellent bird’s-eye view, although awnings and roofs from the houses below detract a little from the otherwise panoramic view of the marina.
For this reason, I think the view from the Monterosso-Vernazza walking trail on other side of the town was more impressive.
If you are hiking any of the popular Cinque Terre trails, then you will be constantly coming across stunning lookout points and if you’re short of time, you could easily skip the castle tower.
On the other hand, if you are not doing any hiking, then the castle is a good chance to experience one of those breathtaking viewpoints that are so much a part of the Cinque Terre.
NOTE: Entry to the viewing platform is is not included in the Cinque Terre Card and will cost €2.

Vernazza is very touristic, crowded and nice . It's not a must , but if you have the time , do walk the narrow alleys to see the Castello Doria (only 2 Euro entry fee) , to enjoy a beautiful panorama of the area .

The views from the tower platform are fine (you cannot go up the tower itself). Is it worth the €2 entry? Maybe if you're a Cinque Terre completionist.

This is a big ripoff…
You see an old tower under construction.
The cinque terre card is not accepted, so you have to pay 2 EUR for almost nothing.
The nice outlook can be enjoyed from other places as well or even better…

I reccomend for foreing tourist not to to this castle: you pay 4 euro just view the landscape but the castle is closed and you can see the same landscape from many other points of Cinque Terre.
I am italian and I feel sorry for all foreign tourists who pay for nothing. They read "Castle", but the castle is entirely closed. Sometime Itally works like this. Sorry there are also honest italian people
