Not for the elderly or disabled. You need sturdy sneaks or hiking boots. Highly recommend walking sticks and an early start. If staying in Monterosso, take the train to Vernazza and walk toward Monterosso. If you start the other way, you must ascend over 200...More

I have Parkinson's, so found the hike a bit taxing, but wouldn't have wanted to miss it. It is supposedly easy, but you need to be prepared for the climb. Tough going in spots, but the views are worth the effort. I can't imagine how...More

What a hike! We started in Vernazza onto Monterosso. The crowds were coming from Monterosso. It is not an easy hike, many stairs, some very skinny trails along edge. No rails in spots too. Can get crowded. Bring water, maybe fruit. A hand towel for...More

This is quite an easy walk for the fit, big climb out of Monterosso if you suffer from any leg ailments walking poles would be good, also as one would expect when you have climbed up you must come down so poles are useful.water is...More

It took us about 90 minutes to go from Monterosso to Vernazza. The walk was steep and narrow in areas but overall a great trail. We had limited time and exited the trail in Vernazza. We walked around town then took the train to Manarola...More

This trail is not easy. But the views are worth it. We visited in September and the crowds were thinner than during the summer months, which is definitely a plus. The only hard part was that it rained one day (rainy season starts in September)...More

Bring water..sunglasses & a towel because it can be a workout! While you will see ALL ages form kids to your grandparents walking this trail...it is NOT a beginner trail & has a TON of steps, inclines & declines. You can go at your own...More

we kind-of hustled though it and should've taken more time, but we didn't take any water with us, so we got thirsty at the top and hurried down. It was warm, so I'd recommend taking some water, and wear comfortable hiking shoes. I did it...More

The views are spectacular but be aware this is a hike and not a walk from Monterosso to Vernazza. If you are a well equipped hiker with proper boots and gear ( water is a must) and good fitness level you will enjoy the challenge....More

This is a very nice work with many good restaurants in Vernazza to reward you at the end. good scenery and if you start early you will beat most of the crowd, especially that annoying group who insist on hiking poles when they are not...More

Not sure about mileage but the first leg from Monterosso to Vernazza took us about 2 hrs. It’s not an easy hike but very doable!! We stopped occasionally to take pictures but I would estimate it takes most people 2-3 hours... More

I didn’t find the trail between Monterosso and Vernazza too difficult. The first section is a bit of a challenge as there are quite a few stairs but just stop and take breaks. The rest of the trail has some ups but nothing... More

The booth was open at both ends on the day we walked, though apparently it had been closed on previous days. You can pay at the booth but it must be in cash. We also saw the Vernazza booth being shut about 1:30 but that may... More
