The Citta Vecchia is most interesting and there are several buildings of great interest. It is very pleasant to stroll through this area.

Trieste is an interesting place. Getting around from a walking perspective is not all that easy. The waterfront and the flatter areas all offer an interesting take on the town of the centuries. The older areas up and around the hills also have their appeal. My advice is to get a Trieste pass. From that you will get bang for... More

Probably my expectations were too high, but the Old Town of Trieste was somewhat disappointing compared to other Italian cities.

This part of the city was modernized in the last 10-15 years. It still has some attraction - Roman theater - but the real Old City feeling is not there anymore. This was actually the "ghetto" of the Jews, but today you wont find anything from from them.

Citta Vecchia is the most interesting part of Trieste to me, such a contrast to the splendid edifices of the newer Austro-Hungarian buildings. Charming, quirky and inviting, this is Italy at its very best.

The Old Town of Trieste is nothing great and certainly not worth going out of your way to visit. Trieste has a few decent restaurants but the sights and history is lacking.

Brilliant spot to lose yourself for a while, wandering the narrow streets and stairs of Trieste. Occasional Roman ruins stand out, as do the wine-bars and restaurants. Keep your eyes open.

Citta' vecchia (old city) is the medieval heart of Trieste, built in turn on the ruins of the Roman city - of which bits and pieces remain scatterd around, including the beautiful theatre and the Arco di Riccardo. It has been revamped and restaured in the pst ten years, so it's now pleasant and cleaner - a beautiful area to... More

Quite unique city because it's by the seaside, and yet it has a lot of classical features of all Austrian-Hungary monarchy cities, vast majority of whom was totally continental. Because of this anomaly, this city is quite interesting from architectural point of view. Historical aswell. Worth stolling around, if you have time.

It was great just walking around this part of Trieste, with the odd bit of roman building and the wonderful little shops and a pedestrian precinct made it a great time
