I highly recommend the audio guide walking tour if you want to just see the main sights on your own. You can do it in 2 to 4 hours. We took our time and made a couple of stops for beer and for lunch. Well...More

Go and get one, or more,( one for each person). of the audio guide units. They will lead you through the larger parts of Trieste. Saw stuff I would have never seen on our own.

No, sorry. We arrived by train and traveled throughout the area by bus. I would suggest taking a train to Austria. It would be much easier.
