Largest square in Europe facing the sea. Lit up beautifully for Christmas and great concerts in summer. It's definitely worth a visit if you are passing through town!

This is an exert, see my full Trieste review at jcmarxblog.com Perhaps the most famous thing you will want to check out is the Piazza Unità (Unity Square). This is the largest sea-front square in Europe. And its timeless, majestic beauty will move you. There...More

One cannot describe the beauty. It's breathtaking especially when sitting in one of the great caffè of the square a cruising boat is approaching or leaving. Must see

It has been all said before the views within the confines of the Piazza are fabulous both by day and by night try too be there at sunset as the diminishing light adds lustre to your photos. History abounds and you won't be disappointed.

For me one of the most beautiful squares i have ever seen. Stunning architecture, great view and excellent restaurants are located here. I always go to Caffe degli Specchi or Harris bar.

We enjoyed the space itself but the real draw is the cafes both on the square itself and on the approaches. It was simply marvelous. One morning we were treated to an Italian Army contingent drilling in preparation for a ceremony which took place the...More

Tourist office is great, you need to ask for things though. At the time they had a fluent German-speaking Austrian but not a very good english speaker.

A true rival to St Mark's Venice without the overcrowded, overpriced, overrated hassle of that place. Do make a visit.

Please tell me how close it is to the train station. I am traveling with my granddaughter and we never did anything like this before. We are staying at a friend stationed in Aviano and would like to take the train to Triste and Venice and Milan. And, also, do the trains run all night long. Is this even feasible? Or do we need a car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It is 10 - 15 minutes on foot from the train station, so you most certainly do not need a car. There are also buses from the station which stop in front of the square itself. You must buy the ticket before boarding and... More

Yes, there is a parking place across the square on the waterfront, but if you need to leave your car for a longer period of time, then it might be better to park somewhere in the street. You can park for free at the train... More
