The most obvious fact relating to this church is it's commanding position, facing as it does towards the sea with the line of the Grand Canal, a Piazza and a Fountain in between. Dating back to the early Nineteenth century, the facade is impressive with...More

This church is incredibly impressive as a landmark in the Canale Grande quarter. Inside it is a little disappointing.

We came on a Saturday (11 am) and the doors were closed. Not sure why it was closed or if it is even open on Saturdays. I would give it a higher rating if I saw how it looked on the inside. On the outside,...More

We liked that church although we are not Catolic. That building is impresive outside, but we liked interior more then exterior. Peaceful and relaxing...

Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Nuovo's main defining feature is the columns in the entrance. There also some statues above to look at. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the inside, though. The proximity to the Canal Grande is an advantage.

The Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Nuovo is a stunning building located at the far end of the Canal Grande, it is dedicated to S. Antonio Taumaturgo and is the largest church in Trieste. It was built in neoclassical style in 1825 and 1849, there are six...More

The view at night from the canal is simply breathtaking and a photo opportunity that must be taken as the church and the lighting reflect in the water. The tranquility at night is diametrically opposed to the hustle and bustle of the day with market...More

This is an imposing building in central Trieste. At first glance it doesn't really look like a church, and looks maybe more like a Roman or Greek temple. A quick look is enough as you explore this part of Trieste.

One cannot fail to notice this church when walking around the Canale Grande area. The front of the church, with its columns, reminds one of a Greek temple. I did not have the time to visit the interior.
