We enjoyed our visit. Furnishings and Art are excellent in this former palace of the Sartoio family. The history of the acquisition of the Teipolo drawings is interesting. Check hours before you go as some days it is only open in the am.

If I was impressed by the Revoltella museum, (a couple of hundred yards downhill), then the Sartorio Civic Museum really quite astonished me. Let’s begin with the best bit – it’s free, (or it was in August 2018). Hailing from a city where, (almost), all...More

This free museum (and that in itself is remarkable) is a former palazzo complete with beautiful furnishings, including, as others have said, the kitchen, but also lots of remarkably preserved furniture. There are also a handful of glorious art works by Tiepolo and Carpaccio, and...More

After completing the European Peace Walk from Vienna to Trieste I came across the Civico Museo Sartorio. The guide was wonderful and spoke excellent English. The building was mostly set up as a period piece with beautiful furnishings which included, my highlight, the kitchen. Such...More

It was late afternoon on a Saturday and we weren't sure we could gain admittance because it looked like a small wedding reception was happening. We were delighted with a guide that made this museum truly meaningful and a true delight to experience! This building...More

We were recieved shortly (an hour) before closing time and given an intelligent, coherent and responsive guided tour. The guide was clearly an academic rather than a scripted automaton. The collection is fantastically rich. Generally I hate guided tours. This one was highly satisfactory. I...More

Extensive art collection , modern to Renaissance. The Renaissance collection is worth the admission alone! An old elegant home houses this museum, and the living rooms have been beautifully restored. The 19th century kitchen was intact, with the stoves and cookware. Very unusual. Personal guides...More
