Two floors of museum closed for refurbishment when we were there (July 2017) but remainder (ground floor and external lapidarium) were poorly displayed with little effort made. Exhibition comparing Palmyra and Aquileia was better. Likely we missed more spectacular parts of collection, and refurb shows...More

The Archeological Museum is on the Aquileia audio tour that you can get for a small fee from the Information Office on the north end of town. The audio tour has some information about the museum and garden but it is pretty jumbled up and...More

were it not for the fact that there is so little inscriptions in English I would have given this greater praise . Having just experienced the excellent promotional by British heritage on the Roman remains on Hadrian's Wall, I was saddened that English-speaking people were...More

The museum is ''must see'' when you're in Aquileia, while it gives you a good perception of Roman times. Three floors of artifacts, although I was a bit sad, that almost everything written (as description) was in Italian language, so you can't really learn some...More

This small museum was much more than we expected. The depth of Ancient Roman artifacts was the most we've ever seen outside of Rome. The majority of artifacts are in the rear courtyard of the building. Inside, key pieces are well organized and laid out....More

This is a good small museum with an interesting collection of artefacts from the Aquileia site as well as some pieces from Iran for a special exhibition this summer. It's laid out over three floors and there are also exhibits in the garden. Recommended.

There's an overwhelming amount of stuff here, but the treasures are the many gemstones, the glass, and a couple of fantastic bronze heads. Recommended

We enjoyed Aquileia very much. It is a small town with Roman ruins that have been unearthed all over town. The museum was very good. Outside, they had long sheds that covered many statues, mosaics, urns, columns, etc.

This is a small, local museum housed over three levels in a former aristocratic villa. The collection is dedicated to material recovered from tombs and excavations in and around Aquileia. Unfortunately the exhaustive information panels are (mostly) in italian which reduces their effectiveness. the lapidarium...More
