When one comes from the train station to the center of Rome, the first great spectacular square that is found is this
It is very wide and surrounded by spectacular monuments such as the military academy and the ducal palace, we did not visit them because we were only there for one day, but I think they can be visited by appointment
It is worth taking a leisurely walk admiring this square and all the details and sculptures around it.
Special attention to the statue of Ciro Meroni, martyr of the Italian nation, and one of the revolutionaries of Modena

This is a huge square dominated by the stunning Palazzo Ducale. There is also a fountain, statue and bars/restaurants/ice-cream shops/etc.

Beautiful castle and square! There is an art museum inside the castle and several restaurants around the square.

A few blocks off Via Emilia, this Piazza is fairly large with fountains, restaurants, shops & a gelateria nearby. On Friday & Saturday evenings there are often talented street performers providing entertainment.

Pretty square that is dominated by the Palazzo Ducale. There are a few cafes offering food and refreshments - a great place to sit and enjoy the view. At the time of our visit there were a number of super cars on display in the square - the display of cars was enhanced by the spectacular backdrop of the Palazzo Ducale.

Such a stunning place to visit, especially before it gets crowded in the summertime. So much history to absorb and beauty to appreciate. Spend some time here, it's worth every minute.

We walked through the piazza after dinner one evening with some friends. The ambiance was nice, the air cold, and the friendly chatting enjoyable. The views during the holiday season are a nice additional touch.

The recently refurbished rectangular Piazza Roma is in my opinion, next to the Piazza Grande, the second most beautiful square of Modena.
The square is dominated by the awesome Palazzo Ducale and was during era of the duchy as a place for official celebrations, performances and receptions.
The square still breathes a kind of serene atmosphere, which might be different in case events take place on the piazza.
But definitely a must see in Modena.
