Brief visit to the Duomo in Modena but really glad we did. Beautiful brick masonry columns and arches. Quiet, peaceful space.

So every Italian town has their main church but this one is worth a visit. I like the fact it's still a functioning church and they take that serious with restrictions on Sunday. There is no fee to visit which I think all churches so...More

There was mass when I was there. It was filled with locals who were using their fans because of the heat. It is a very old charming building, worth stopping by when you are walking in the area.

Modena is a very pleasant city, I actually preferred it over Bologna. The duomo is a very beautiful church, especially the crypt is incredibly beautiful. Not a surprise that this place is on the Unesco WHS list.

A stark change from the elaborate gilded cathedrals in the area, this tall, proud arched cathedral has a lovely crypt and some fine mosaics. Do stop in for a prayer.

On the UNESCO list and for a good reason, this is really impressive. Nicest view from the square. You cannot visit during mass.

Very busy when we visited because it's holiday and watched locals with their kids inside this huge church, a family day for church goers and don't forget to see the crypt.

We think about 11€ each. Purchase at the front ticket office in front of the Duomo - but walk around to the rear entrances.
