This area in Bologna is close to Piazza Maggiore. The Quadrilatero experience was something that we enjoyed. Many typical shops of Bologna such as Salumerias, Fish stalls, Artisan homemade pasta and more. It was not that crowded and hence we could enjoy this experience much better. Will surely recommend this hidden gem in Bologna

This is a busy market and foodie area just to the east of Piazza Maggiore where you find several narrow streets lined with fresh food produce dealers, fishmongers, green grocers, salumeria, cheese shops, wine bars, many casual eateries and market buildings with food and drinks which you can enjoy while hanging out with friends or family. You can also pick up nice food items here that you can enjoy back in your hotel or apartment. If you have kitchen facility, can be enjoyable to prepare a bit of food from the shops and vendors that line the streets of Quadrilatero.

We loved wandering around here and just looking at all the foods. Everything looked just amazingly delicious (and we did sample a few things and they were great). The atmosphere of the market was a bit different than some others we have visited and there are many restaurants and cafes in the area which add to the visit. I would definitely be sure to stop here when you visit Bologna.

Visiting the city, you will inevitably see some of this area but it is worth wandering off the main roads so you can soak up the atmosphere. Each alleyway offers another photogenic vista of coloured buildings.

We stayed in this area and it is vibrant and hustle/bustle with the fish market and all the kiosks selling mainly sausage, pasta and cheese.

What a busy area, teeming with people, tables spilling into the streets it’s often difficult to negotiate moving around. Every restaurant is full of people eating and drinking especially at the weekend. A beautiful sight

The Quadrilatero is a nice walk through narrow alleyways where you'll find places such as cafes, butchers, bakers and pasta shops. Along these alleyways you'll also see flower, fruit and veg and fishmonger stalls. Personally, it's a nice walk only as it's really no different from going to your local market

Arguably the best neighborhood in the city. Old streets and buildings, narrow alleys, make such a beautiful picture. Loved it

A big tourist trap. Low quality food and High prices. Devoted to Mass tourism. Walk ten minuts more and eat somwhere far from Piazza Maggiore. In Piazza Santo Stefano there Is a supermarket with food to go very good, at the right side of the church.
