This is a famous chocolatier with a long history in Bologna dating back to 1796. You can visit their shop on Via de' Carbonesi. They are open from 9am to 1.30pm and again from 3pm to 7.30pm daily and offer a range of beautifully packaged and arranged chocolate bars and products. Even if you are not interested in purchasing, it is worth quick look inside Majani.

During our recent visit, we purchased dark chocolate bars to enjoy back home along with some orangettes (candied orange) which we nibbled on while exploring the city centre. They tasted great, very much worthy of return visits to purchase more. We found staff to be very friendly and happy to explain various chocolates we were interested in purchasing. They offer to gift wrap your purchases if you like.

We stumbled across this shop whilst walking around Bologna. I had read about the Fiat chocolates and wanted to buy some as a present. The shop assistant was so helpful and friendly! We even went back the next day to buy more chocolates! The chocolates are beautifully packaged!

We were taken by our guide here and wow, the place has an old world charm, but fantastic packaging done by pure professionals, and the chocolates are so good. This is probably the oldest chocolate brand I have ever had - 217 years! Majani has been producing chocolates since 1796 and became as one of the finest in Europe winning awards on numerous occasions. This soon became the official suppliers of chocolate to the Royal family. I love the Sfoglia Nera...the concept of this chocolate is a tree trunk...and because of the texture, it easily melts in your mouth! Chocolate lover or not, it is a must to visit this place and enjoy their unique chocolates!

This is an amazing chocolate shop that's been in Bologna forever. You have to go in and have a sample - once you do you'll be hooked. We bought the Fiat chocolate, the Tortellini chocolate and the little good luck Christmas witch (that's still hanging in my kitchen). I would have bought the entire shop but 1) I could never have fit this in my suitcases; 2) I would have never fit in my airline seat :-) Don't miss this classis stop in Bologna.

If you are a lover of chocolate, you cannot miss this shop on your visit to Bologna.
Established in 1796, Majani is the oldest chocolatier in Italy and, man, do they know their stuff. The Scorza dark chocolate bark is their most well known confection, but my personal favorite was the dark chocolate tortellini. Totally melt in your mouth and I've been looking for a US distributor ever since! Don't leave Bologna without checking it out!

Do not miss going to this great shop. They will help you discover so many different types of chocolate and give you a history lesson as well. We went back twice and took some well-received gifts back home with us.

This place has been going since 1796 so it must be doing something right. I first experienced this place on a walking food tour of Bologna so we received several free samples. Have been back multiple times and the chocolate is devine. If you love your chocolate, do not miss this place!!
