Better city view than San Luca

Although everyone speaks of the walk to San Luca (which is beautiful in it's own right!), the views of Bologna from San Michele in Bosco are far, far better. The walk is much shorter and the reward reached far quicker. The church itself is not much compared with other churches in the city but you come here for the view... More

It's well worth the effort of walking up the hill to see this church as you get a better feel for its location than going by bus. The church itself is quite small but in many respects it is the smaller churches, richly decorated, which make a bigger lasting impression than the grand cathedrals. If you are walking from the... You need to walk or catch bus no 30.We eventually caught the bus from Hugo Bassist, after spending 1 hour at other bus stops where it did not turn up.A short trip with a good view of the city at the end. Unfortunately the church was not open, but is was not long till the return bus arrived.

This church is on a small hill just outisde the city wall. I went there early in the morning to see the sun rise over the city. It's a beautiful view from up there and it's reasonable easy to get to.

San Michele in Bosco is on Bologna hills but very easy to reach, both by bus (30) or walking. If you decide to walk I suggest to go up from Porta S. Mamolo (Via Codivilla) entering the park you find down and reaching the church from the back. Once up take your time to admire the view of all the... More

The church is on a hill outside Bologna. There is a free parking close to it and we also saw a bus stop there as well. From there on it's maybe 2-3 minute walk to the church. The church itself is large, but nothing special, however you could get a great view of the city of Bologna from there.

A pleasant walk up the hill is rewarded by a stunning view over Bologna. We did not visit the church, but spent a very enjoyable 20 minutes scanning the city and taking pictures.

Take an easy walk in fresh air through a lush garden park to the top of a hill where Church of Saint Michael in Bosco is located. The church has beautiful interior and interesting 2-levels inside design. The view of the city with its red-roofed houses is alsolutely spectacular. Definately reserve time for such 2-hours walking tour.

don't go through the old wooden door to the right of the altar otherwise you will find yourself in the adjoining hospital - a bit of an 'Alice in Wonderland' moment for us!
