This is a long steep walk beyond Bologna city limits. We went on a Sunday morning which is obviously a popular time for exercise-conscious Italians. You can get a bus part of the way to San Luca but it’s nice to look at the views...More

It took me, a mddile aged man, about 25 minutes to walk up the hill from Via Saragozza. I did need a short stop at about 3/4 distance. I Imagine the views, on a clear day, must be good, but both time I walked this...More

We were pleased that we made the effort to walk to the summit of San Luca along the entire via Sarragozza poticos, and not chosen the easy way to ascend on the San Luca Express. It was quite aneffort but totally rewarding at the summit.

The whole walk can take awhile so my advice is to take the bus to the beginning of the portico walk and start your walk from there. It took us 20 minutes on the bus from Via Irnerio (Bus #20) and we got off at...More

We picked up the little train at the Piazza Majorie, great information and incredible views once at top. There is a pizzeria at top but we did not go in.

The devil's number 666 is the number of sections of portico in this walkway up from Bologna to the sanctuary St. Luca. Some sections are fairly steep and good shoes and water are recommended but when you reach the top the view over Bologna and...More

The view is outstanding, just priceless. Due to the heat (temperature above 35 degrees) we skipped the walk to the top and hopped on the express train instead. Easy and quickly way to the top, cost was 10 euro.

Start at Piazza Saragozza and you can’t miss the beginning of the archways which then heads continuously all the way to the top. I am slightly surprised to read reviewers commenting on how arduous a walk this is - it’s not really. The ground is...More
