I almost didn't see this fascinating statue as I was in such awe of everything that Saint Peter's Basilica had to offer. The toe on the right foot is flat as so many visitors have touched or kissed it.

The statue is another beautiful piece of sculpture that is so special to religious people . I am sure it is the highlight for many , I am surprised they allow everyone to touch such an important work of art.

Given where the statue is situated, it can be easy to miss. Your eyes are drawn to all the amazing pieces of artwork around so look out for a group of tourists touching thr feet of the statue! It is a nice enough piece but would be appreciated more in a different venue.

The statue of St.Peter is of religious value to Catholics. Most people kiss the feet for blessings. It was an interesting sight to see people kiss the feet for blessings.. A novel experience for a non catholic.

We just stood in wonder as the pilgrims passed by the statue of St Peter and touched his feet as they have dome for centuries. We had already seen the pictures of the Statue dressed in fine robes on 22nd February and one other time in the year.

.. it has become a tradiotion for visitors to kiss the extended toe of St. Peter for a blessing. A brinze scy=ulpture, it sits close to the entrance to St Peter's tomb just next to the Bernini sculped copula above ST Peter's ancient chapel & grave.

This sculpture was in the original church built by the Emperor Constantine and later demolished to make way for the current Basilica. Tradition has it that if you touch St. Peter's feet you will have good fortune. Worth a try....

Surprisingly the statue is still accessible to the public. You can touch the statue & kiss the foot of St.Peter, unusual given the security which is evident everywhere.

So many great reviews about this already so I wont have alot to say. This statue is in the St. Peter's Basilica which has no entrance fee but a long line. When you have a tour at the Vatican Museum or Sistine Chapel then you get to skip the line! It is a bronze statue of Saint Peter holding the... More
