The most beautiful work inside St. Peter's Cathedral is Michelangelo's famous La Pietà, considered by many to be the most moving piece of sculpture ever created.

The Pieta is an exquisite monument to the love of the Blessed Virgin Mary for her Divine Son. She cradles His lifeless Body after His Crucifixion and before His Entombment.

If you like statues this is worth seeing for the history as well as the iconography of it. Though, to be honest I like his other works more. Sorry Michaelangelo.

What a privilege to see this famous work of art by Michelangelo when visiting the Vatican. Very busy as everyone wants to see this sculpture. The statue is now behind glass for safety.

Such an amazing work of art. While it is so famous, it is amazing to just see this in person! You can't get very close anymore, but still great to see!

As one enters the Vatican, go about 25 meters and behind protective glass is one of the few signed sculptures by Michaelangelo. It is unfortunate that a treasure such as this must be behind glass because of the action of persons who have no regard...More
