It is magnificent and heavenly. Even the sky is beautiful and blue-ish. A must visit in Rome. The architecture is unbelievable. Where else can you find this? You have to be there to appreciate every bit of it.

This is a vast area with many amazing buildings surrounding it including St Peter's Basilica and Vatican City. Unfortunately did not have time to enter either of them as the queues were too big.

Visiting St. Peter's Square and the Basilica was the highlight of my trip to Rome. I stayed close by, allowing me easy access any time of day. On one evening, I went to watch the sun set over the Square. My son and I went...More

This is one incredibly well design and well adorned square. It is easy to stand in the middle of it and just stare as you slowly turn 360 degrees. (Then likely repeat) Awe-inducing, to be sure.

We visited the square recently on a trip to Rome. It is huge! So many people there visiting. Looking on the church was a picture I'd seen so many times on TV. Would recommend

The place is wonderful. And when the Pope appeared at the window and gave us the blessing was very exciting.

Definitely go there at night as well! We deliberately saved our Monday for the Vatican but on Sunday evening we went to the square as well - everything's within walking distance in Rome so it's not a big deal visiting a site more than once....More

Not that I saw. As I think about it, I don't remember seeing anyone sitting. There are no benches. I don't think you can even sit on the edge of the fountain. It's kind of a take pictures spot. There are cafes right before... More

The square is open to the streets/public if not blocked off for an event so no dress code. If you wish to do Vatican tours it's likely best to have shoulders covered and no short shorts/skirts.
