Just incredible to be there - such an enclosure and, during February break, the crowds are very manageable - if you can see the Pope on Sunday at noon - do it. Again, in February, the crowds were really small.

Squire is huge and beautiful. It is crowded, but worth to visit. Recommend to visit in a morning. Vatican by itself is not that big and visiting can take no more then half day.

We went at 7am and there were little people inside the basilica and on the square. We came back after our tour and the place was a zoo. If you want the good pictures and a less overwhelming experience inside the church, make yourself wake...More

St Peters square is iconic and free to visit...yes it gets crowded and sadly has homeless people bedding down for the night. At night its stunning and pretty quiet. Its a very impressive sight.

Unfortunately, the line was too long and we could not enter the basilica, but the square itself is very beautiful and pretty impressive. And if you visit it on a Wednesday or a Sunday, you may even see the Pope :)

And charming at the same time. Make sure to wear light clothes, comfort shoes and stay hydrated, if you’re planning to visit in spring. You're just not allowed to take pictures in the Sistine Chapel. So enjoy. The Swiss guard are lovely.

Not sure about the Square but I recall a small post office just before you exit the Vatican museum. Of course, you have to have entered the museum in the first place so not much use if you haven't prebooked tickets and don't... More

Yes, you heard correctly. The square is closed at 11pm on nightly basis. It re-opens at 7am. These are general hours of operation, however. They are subject to change based on any sort of Catholic observance. But, as a... More
