- Osman BBeirut, Lebanon658 contributionsThe Piazza Not to be Missed in RomeThis place is surely not be missed once in Rome. In the center there is a large staircase of 135 steps (Spanish Steps) leading to a beautiful church on top. At the bottom of the steps right in the middle of the square you will find the imposing Fontana Della Barcaccia (Old Boat). Few meters in front of the fountain rises a column of Virgin Mary. The Piazza is full of entertainers, painters, street artists etc... surrounded by shops of high-end designers brands and it's so close to Trevi fountain.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 October 2023
- TommoMelbourne, Australia56,005 contributionsAlso known as Spanish SquarePiazza di Spagna (Spanish Square), is located at the bottom of the Spanish Steps. In the middle of the square is the famous Fontana della Barcaccia, dating to the beginning of the baroque period. It’s a very busy area and popular to tourists and Via condotti commences here the busy and expensive fashion street of Rome. Most visitors to Rome would have this area listed on their bucket list.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 January 2024

- Herbert C1,791 contributionsShops, spout and Spanish StepsPiazza di Spagna is undeniably one of Rome's most famous squares, thanks to the renowned Spanish Steps as its backdrop. It is no surprise therefore that the square is constantly buzzing with people, not just with visitors but also shoppers flocking to designer stores in the surrounding shopping high-streets. Occupying the centre of this Italian Baroque style square is the unique Fountain of the Boat (Fontana della Barcaccia), with its depiction of a sinking waterlogged boat with water spouting out. A lovely place to relax by the fountain, take an insta-shot of the Spanish Steps, shop for a designer brand or simply just to soak up the vibrant atmosphere!Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 March 2024
- Hendrik_NLVlaardingen, The Netherlands7,927 contributionsA piazza with unique attributesWhat makes Piazza di Spagna unique? Simple. The Piazza is lined with historical buildings. One of the streets connected to the Piazza is the famous Via Condotti. In the middle of the Piazza is situated the famous Barcaccia Fountain by the grand master Bernini and to top this all off, it is the starting point of the famous Spanish Steps staircase, where at the top of the staircase, the Trinità del Monte church is overlooking the Piazza. This view, the Spanish Steps with the Trinità del Monte is recognised immediately all over the world.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 March 2024
- Liam JPortsmouth, United Kingdom9 contributionsThe Enchanting Piazza di Spagna: A Roman GemThe Piazza di Spagna holds a special place in my heart. It's more than just a square; it's a captivating blend of art, history, and pure Roman charm. The centerpiece that always steals the show is the Spanish Steps. Cascading down like a grand staircase, they invite you to climb and soak in the panorama. Sitting on a step, gelato in hand, watching the world flow by is a quintessential Roman experience. But the beauty goes beyond the steps. Bernini's Fontana della Barcaccia, the "Fountain of the Broken Boat," adds a whimsical touch with its water cascading over a half- sunken vessel. The surrounding buildings, a warm ochre color, frame the scene perfectly. And let's not forget the high-fashion energy! The piazza is a gateway to renowned shopping streets like Via dei Condotti. Even if window-shopping is your style, the experience adds a touch of glamour to the visit. The Piazza di Spagna is a feast for the senses. It's a place to relax, be inspired, and create memories that will last a lifetime. If you're ever in Rome, don't miss it!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 April 2024

Piazza de Spagna in Rome is one of the most iconic and fascinating squares in the city, and was definitely one of the highlights of our family trip. As soon as we arrived, we were enchanted by the beauty of this square, surrounded by period buildings and rich in history.
The first detail that struck us was the famous Trinity of the Mountains staircase, stretching majestically in front of the square. We excitedly climbed the steps to admire the panoramic view of the city and take unforgettable photos.
While walking around the square, we noticed the magnificent Barcaccia Fountain, a work by the famous Bernini, depicting a half-submerged boat. We rested on one of the surrounding benches, enjoying the view and observing the people frequenting the square.
Piazza di Spagna is also a great place for luxury shopping, with fashion boutiques and big brands lining the square and surrounding areas. We strolled in front of the windows, admiring the latest trends and dreaming of making some purchases.
Additionally, this square is also a landmark for art and culture lovers, being close to several important attractions such as Villa Borghese and the Borghese Museum and Gallery. We also visited the Church of the Trinity of the Hills, which is right next to the staircase, and were amazed by its artwork and the religious atmosphere there.
One of the things we enjoyed most about Piazza di Spagna was the lively and lively atmosphere. We were lucky enough to be there during a sunset concert, where we could listen to live music and admire the infectious energy of Romans and tourists having fun together.
Piazza di Spagna was a magical place to explore as a family. We enjoyed its timeless beauty, its history and the vibrant atmosphere that surrounded us. We can't wait to go back and relive the unique experience of this place once again.

Enormous piazza leading to the so-called Spanish steps. Center stage in the piazza is a Bernini fountain shaped like a boat and a large column dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. The Piazza is also home to the Spanish embassy in Rome. Vendors, picture takers, large groups, and some traffic work their way through this crowded and busy piazza. Well worth the visit, but be prepared for crowds except for very late at night or early morning.

It owes its name to the Palazzo di Spagna, seat of the Embassy of Spain to the Holy See. In the middle of the square is the famous fountain, Fontana Della Barcaccia. At the right corner of the Spanish steps is the house of the English poet John Keats. At the left corner is the Babington's tea room. Further to the front of the square is the Column of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Finally we managed to get very distant relatives to visit my husband's home area, where he spent his adolescence and from there in some way that I cannot review for privacy, Piazza di Spagna itself...a little clue : Spanish Steps "marked a career or a success by bringing good luck. Jamo talks about what it was really like to be lucky enough to live right there when the metro wasn't there yet and the steps were full of beautiful girls from all over the world and he and three other resident friends, he tells us, played the guitar...for the whole world. There is no other Piazza Di Spagna nor such an authentic and...important review.

As a native of a city of art, I find that mass tourism makes monuments and works less beautiful than they actually are. The beauty of the square and its staircase is undoubted, but when to climb it you have to take one step at a time zigzagging among the tourists, or as you had the feeling, perhaps less beautiful than it actually is. Despite this, it remains an obligatory stop for anyone in Rome

Piazza di Spagna is one of the most famous and picturesque squares in Rome, located in the heart of the city. The square is located in the Campo Marzio district, in the historic center of Rome. It is close to important shopping streets and numerous tourist attractions. The Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti, also known as the Spanish Steps, is a large three-flight staircase that connects the Piazza di Spagna to the Church of Trinità dei Monti at the top of the hill. The staircase is famous for its architecture and offers a panoramic view of the square and the city. In the center of the square is the Barcaccia Fountain, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The fountain depicts a semi-sunken boat and is fed by water from the Vergine aqueduct. At the beginning of the staircase, on the square, is the Sallustian Obelisk, an Egyptian obelisk erected in Roman times and subsequently moved to this position. Piazza di Spagna is also famous for being one of the most exclusive areas for shopping in Rome. Nearby you will find luxury boutiques, high fashion shops and elegant cafés. The only flaw was that the 8th of December was impracticable, too many people and it was impossible to move, too bad we will be back

The piazza is in my view one of the nicer ones in Rome. No surprise the Spanish embassy is here. It has many high end shops. There are plaes of interest to have a drink or get that quality shot of the Spanish Steps. A man was playing the piano in the late afternoon. The place has a stylish edge.

Hello, I was in Rome a few days ago, I obviously visited Piazza di Spagna and I want to make a question. In the metro station in Spagna, on Saturday and Sunday, I saw a boy holding a blue guitar and a white dog was sitting next to him. Is there anybody who knows his name? I have to find him please...
