Joe and I came here in June 2018 to take an afternoon Micro-Mosaic Jewelry making class. It was so awesome and we enjoyed it so much that we made a pact right then and there that we would return. We did this July 2022 for a four-day mosaic workshop! It was so wonderful! We didn't do anything touristy in Rome. All we did was come here and make art for four days, eat gelato and enjoy the rhythm of Rome. Uliana and Sara are the best! You have to come here! Next time, we're going to ask them to create a special month long mosaic workshop for us!!

My wife and I found this place when we went to Rome in 2018and did the 2.5 hour workshop and fell in love with it. When my wife and I decided to go to Europe after the pandemic in 2022 we found they had a four day workshop we could take. Amazing experience. Uliana and Sara are amazing instructors who guide you through and in the end you walk away with a souvenir for your house. Every time we go to Rome this is going to be one stop we have to make.

I have already seen most of the big sights in Rome and was looking for a fun activity. This was a fabulous time of learning the old ways of the Roman mosaic and making my own to take home. The ladies who taught the class were just lovely and I really wanted to stay for the four day immersion but couldn't. Go to nearby Santa Maria Maggiore and Santa Pressede before or after for the mosaics to further appreciate the value of what you are doing.

Our instructor was superb. She allowed us to choose our project from a variety of choices. I would like to take another class the next time in Rome, or perhaps in my home town. I was amazed to learn that this family owned business created the John Lennon Let It Be memorial in Central Park, New York - not surprising I guess, how many renaissance mosaic artists still exist?? The studio is easy to find.

I STRONGLY encourage anyone who cares about art and history to spend time at Studio Cassio!

I have been a lifelong amateur student of ancient Greek and Roman art, and have visited countless museums and read many books on the subject.

Yet... I had no idea of what I didn't know. The process of actually creating mosaics according to ancient principles of design and construction has enabled me to look at things I had studied for years and begin to understand them with clarity I never imagined possible.

Studio Cassio is a delightful place to spend time, located on a charming street in a central, authentic neighborhood teeming with excellent restaurants and attractions. In only a few minutes, one can walk from the studio to inspect some of the world's finest ancient mosaics at Santa Pudenziana, Santa Prassede, and Santa Maria Maggiore. Also nearby, one can study classical mosaics at the Palazzo Massimo branch of the national museum… mosaics which were in many cases restored by Studio Cassio experts!

Uliana, the director of the studio, is charming, thoroughly knowledgeable, and very helpful. Her enthusiasm for teaching people her noble craft is a joy to behold.

Please, if you are interested in ancient art, treat yourself to a few lessons at Studio Cassio. Doing so taught me many things about art, gave me the chance to meet some extremely nice and interesting people, and set me up with an intensely satisfying new hobby… my home is now decorated with gorgeous, unique mosaics, each of which stirs up lovely memories of Rome.

A friend and I had the opportunity to take a mosaic class at Sutdio Cassio in Rome. It was fantastic. The family has been creating mosaics and restoring them for decades. The history and explanation of the art was amazing and enabled us to look at mosaics with a more educated eye which always makes touring more interesting.
We had the opportunity to create a small mosaic using traditional materials.
Fantastic morning!

We had booked a workshop mosaic old Roman style. It was beyond our expectations. The studio was founded by one of the greatest mosaic artists. They are responsible for about 90% of all the old traditional mosaic in Rome like the Vatican and Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. They even did the mosaic at the Central Park in New York.

We learned about the history, the rules and were after that able to be creative ourselves. Our “teacher” Ulianan helped us during the workshop so that the results looked great at the end. She has a lot of knowledge, her kindness and patience made our afternoon unforgettable. After this workshop we look different at mosaic.

Me and my friend had an absolute blast at this workshop. First of all it was really interesting to find out about the history Mosaic and the studio itself. The mosaic making itself was also really entertaining. And a really nice memory to take home and hang up on your walls. I would especially like to thank Sara, the instructor. She is absolutely lovely and a real sunshine, it was great to be in her company.

We had the best two plus hours of our trip to Rome in the workshop. You start with learning about the history of mosaics and the types of marble, then pick your mosaic to make. The women in the studio are true artists and very patient. You are working with the actual artists and restorers who work on the mosaics in Rome. Clipping and nipping marble to fit into the mosaic is lots of fun. This is great.

I had been in Rome for two weeks admiring the many historical mosaics. On my last day I passed a shop with beautiful mosaic pieces in the window. As I entered I quickly realized it was also a studio. I was warmly welcomed by the shop owners, provided insight to the techniques and their classes. It was wonderful to see some of the projects in progress. I purchased two lovely pieces for my home, which will give me years of enjoyment. I cannot wait until I return to Rome to take a class. If you are in Rome treat yourself to this little treasure.
