My family and I just returned from Rome where we used Through Eternity for two tours - one of the Vatican and St Peters, and the other for the Colosseum/Roman Forum/Palatine Hill. In short, both tours were truly excellent. Our guide John Tinto was fantastic in every way – courteous, patient, responsive to our interests and requests, and incredibly knowledgeable... More

My family took three tours from Eternal Tours: On March 19, 2013 we took the Rome at night tour with Mario. Mario was very knowledgeable and energetic and told us the history of the Spanish steps, the rivalry between the two main architects at the time and we saw many beautiful structure in Rome like the Trevi fountain. Rome at... More

We booked the tour through the USO, our guide was wonderful, he was able to describe the symbolism behind picutres I had seen since childhood and never understood. It was a five hour tour and I was glad that he insisted we sit occasionally.

Today was a wet, raw and completely miserable day in Rome. And as luck would have it, the day we booked an Ancient City tour with Through Eternity. Having Maurizio as a tour guide made the weather as a non-factor. He made the ruins come alive with his thorough knowledge of ancient Rome. If you want a no frills, "just... More

I booked three tours through the Rome USO with Through Eternity. Each tour was unique, in depth, and informative. The three tours I took were: The Underground Tour with Gabe, Rome at Twilight with Mario (I think that was his name??), and Vatican in Depth with Gina. All three tours were exceptional. The tour guides provide a perspective that you... More

We took the Ancient City In-Depth Experience tour with guide Caterina Panetta. She was wonderful, very fluent English speaker, who made it all come alive for us. This is one of the best tours I have ever been on and I don't think we would have enjoyed the Colosseum or Roman Forum nearly as much without Caterina's commentary and insights.... More

I took the in-depth tour of Vatican with Gregory. The tour lasted almost 7 hours and although I was tired and overwhelmed by the amount of information and the sheer beauty of Vatican, I didn't want to leave. Gregory is a very knowledgeable and inspiring guide and spoke fluent English. It's the best tour I have ever taken anywhere!

We had an amazing time on our Vatican in Depth tour with Gregory. He is very knowledgeable, intelligent and, most importantly, passionate professional. The tour lasted 7 hours (with a lunch break) and was packed with information and sights. Even though we were very tired at the end and overloaded with information, we did not want to leave! I highly... More

Our tour guide for the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica In-Depth Experience was John Tinto. The size of our group was 10, which is apparently smaller than the average of 14. He spoke fluent Italian and English, and also understood the Latin inscriptions along the tour. The tour itself was very in depth and John gave excellent discourses about... More

Staying in Piazza Venezia / Ancient City

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazza Venezia / Ancient City
If all roads lead to Rome, then they all end here. Piazza Venezia and the Ancient City are the very epicenter of the Eternal City. Within a 360-degree turn, Roman history unrolls in front of you, from its ancient beginnings to its 21st century transformations. Whether it’s those historical playgrounds known as the Roman and Imperial Forums, or the side-street shops, trattorie, and churches, this neighbourhood packs a cultural punch and then some. Screaming scooters, battling buses, crazy cars, and lots of foot traffic converge in the area all day long. By dusk, a different vibe emerges as the neighbourhood quiets down. Don't be surprised if you find yourself passing through the Piazza Venezia at least once a day, since it’s the most direct way to get from one side of town to another.
