Get an audio, hook it on and make your way round this gallery which is full of poetry...in a metaphoric way. I loved it, it has taken me such a long time to get here as you have to book prior on the internet.

You may never come back here again so do the best you can for yourself. This is a truly wonderful museum with Caravaggio's and the most amazing marble statues. Napoleon's sister as a Goddess. A girl gradually turning into a tree.. You have two hours to get round after that you will be thrown out. I have been to Rome... More

The museum had a wide selection of art - all were well-presented. It is surrounded by the beautiful and large Borghese Gardens.

There are some beautiful paintings (including many by Caravaggio) and some stunning statues (including by Bernini). If you are interested in art, this is a must see. All of this beautiful art is housed in a building that is itself a work of art. You can also enjoy the gardens in which it is located. You can visit in a... More

The Bernini collection is amazing. I could have sat in there all day. Purchasing tickets ahead of time is a must. We were happy to discover the zoo was close by so we went there after.

The whole complex is amazing and should not be missed. Beware - you have to buy your tickets in advance, as there are only 300 people admitted on a two-hour basis. The Borghese family originated in Siena but moved to Rome, where they gained prominence, had a pope (Paul V) and the greatest of Borghese was Scipione Borghese - a... More

Rome is full of so many wonderful attractions that it is hard to decide which to visit. I highly recommend a visit to the Borghese Gallery! Not only is it the home to some wonderful statutes and paintings, but the building itself is an architectural delight. We signed up for a tour with an English speaking guide and it was... More

It's really that good - the villa of Cardinal Scipio Borghese (who was not a priest but being nephew of the Pope qualified him to be a cardinal). Advance registration is easy and strongly recommended, do it online before travelling to Rome. Audioguides are available, I also enjoyed the pre-booked English tour. Visiting time is limited to two hours, which... More

Staying in Parioli

Neighbourhood Profile
Parioli
Young and well-to-do families are the street flavour of Parioli. A new kind of Rome, this area is centuries away from the Renaissance with its pockets of 1930s palaces, tony boutiques, open-air markets and plenty of coffee shops. Parioli was built as an enclave for last century’s haute bourgeois and still represents as such in 21st century Rome. Need a break? The area has several great sporting clubs known for tennis and riding, a wonderful modern art museum, easy access to the zoo (Europe’s oldest), and is nestled around Rome’s very best parks including Villa Borghese, Villa Ada and Villa Glori.
