Nothing crazy, but cool to go :)

This is one of the fastest visit to any attraction you'll ever have; of course, unless you decide to step inside and actually pose your hand inside the bocca. A cute legend lies behind this marble piece : Starting from the Middle Ages, it was believed that if one told a lie with one's hand in the mouth of the... More

Whilst not a major attraction, if you walk to this from the colosseum you will pass some great architecture including the Vittoriana museum. Short queues for the bocca della verita - worth a visit if you've done the rest!

Not very much to see there, but it won't kill you to go if you have time to spare. Of course there's a line and it's just a hole you put your hand in, but it's ok. Has a nice myth behind it, so it's kinda fun.

Queue, but not that bad :) You are allowed to take one photo, but everybody is cheating (including me, we got like 4 shots). Go very early or get you somebody/something to entertain you for 10-30 minutes. But I had fun going there.

I came here after more than 30 years. I think it would be worth to do it as a kid or if you bring the kids with you to tell the story about. As adult is an okay thing to see but I wouldn't do extra effort to see it.

I read about this in a book many years ago. Would have wanted to put my hand into the "mouth." I saw it several years ago when I first visited Rome. It was late at night so it was closed. When we went last September, it was open but lines were long. So I had to be contented to see... More

Ok, It's part of the history from the first century and it's nice for that. But, we have found a huge line of people waiting for a picture (and put hand in the mouth and make a special request). Poor space, be prepared to wait without any protection of the sun or rain.

We were far more entertained by teasing (unmercifully) one of the members of our party while waiting in line. Probably not worth the 20 minutes of standing in line except if the end result is in our favour...

Quirky place to go, you can visit even if church is shut. A long queue of people waiting to take their photo but worth doing. Think 'roman holiday' and 'only you' true Hollywood

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
