Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere in the evenings has a lovely buzz, there are people everywhere, restaurants and bars are overflowing, buskers entertain and people sit on the steps of the fountain taking it all in, this is the pulse of Trastevere. The following are some of the structures which make up the piazza - No visit to the piazza... More

We sat at a table having a drink in one of the many restaurants in the square whilst our children watched the street painters make incredible chalk pictures using basic household items. It is also a great people watching spot. Very busy with lots of street artists and musicians.

Our Hotel was in Trastevere, about 5-6 blocks from Piazza Santa Maria. The narrow streets that we took getting to and from the Piazza are lined with very good and moderate to low priced Restaurants. In the evenings ( varied by nights) there were performers, artists (displaying and creating their pictures) and people sitting around the fountain watching ( as... More

In this piazza you find the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere and a handful of good restaurants. The piazza is lively especially in the evenings.

The Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere is in the heart of the Western bank of the Tiber river, or the Trastevere. On one side, it has the Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the oldest churches in Rome, with some of the most beautiful 13th century mosaics inside, representing the life of the Virgin Mary. On the... More

What a great place to sit and relax, soaking up the sun, people watching and listening to music. Great cocktails can be had at the bars

The atmosphere of Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere is cosy and friendly, like a large living room. By the way, Italy seems to have the patent on turning almost every Piazza into a living room. Visiting Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere is a fixed item on a Rome visit. Firstly a visit to the Basilica and then a... More

This area is surrounded by place to eat and drink and next to the lovely church. Great place to sit on the steps by the fountain and have a snack or drink. Trastevere is a great location in Rome.

Santa Maria Piazza is situated in Trastevere in front of the historical minor basilica by the same name. The piazza provides open space, alfresco cafe dining and access to a church featuring remarkable 12th and 13th century mosaics. This lively square features a neat fountain that is worth seeing. The fountain is a rebuild of the structure originally created by... More

It is recommended to visit it. It has a nice atmosphere and that you will enjoy it. There are many restaurants and cafeterias where you can eat and drink. Although it seems they are expensive, it worth to be overcharged for a night.
