Interesting building

The only baptistery in Rome is behind the Lateran cathedral. I think this is the oldest baptistery .

This was one of the most ornate baptisteries we visited while in Italy. It is easily accessible on foot or via public transport and there is no entry fee. The central baptismal font alone is worth visiting here for. It won't take up much of...More

One of the oldest places of worship in Rome. It is the first Christian baptistery ever built and it served as a model for most of the baptisteries built after it. Don’t miss it when you visit Basilica of St. Giovanni in Laterano

The baptistry font itself was worth the visit - the statues and reliefs on it were really interesting. Definitely worth the 10-15 minutes it takes to see it!!

This church is kind of out of the way, but it’s beautiful and well worth the visit. It’s right near the bus stop, so taking the public transportation there is easy.

We see all the basilicas and the Cathedral of St John Lateran, along with shrines like the Holy Stairs and we think we see Early Christianity. We see the places, but not the structures. Most are either re-builds from the 16th century or later. It...More

This church is worth finding and visiting in Rome -- it is absolutely beautiful inside. There was a mass in session at the time I visited but you could still enter and walk about either side, or sit and attend the service if you wish....More
