Site of old water mills and isolation hospital - now long gone. A beautiful old footbridge is still in daily use. There is an excellent restaurant either for meals or just a coffee. Handy hint: a great way to walk from the Vatican/St Peter's area to the Forum and avoid the endless crowds is to walk along the Lungotevere (Tiber... More

Linked by two bridges, this is the only Island on the Tiber, and looks good. You will need to read up on Tiber Island (Isola Tiberina) as there is so much history attached to this small, but interesting Island. Go about lunch time and eat at one of the local eateries, they are mostly very good.

It is rare to find an island in the center of the city. The history behind this island is magnificent, make sure to read before you visit it.

Little island very cozy with two nice bridges. You can find restaurants and cafés in a great landscape in Rome. So cute with a lot of spaces without people. Get some rest in the center of the town.

Nice little island in the middle of the river. Few cool view points you can get from around the island. Not really much to do whilst on it though.

While not as "complete" or compelling as the two Parisian islands, this is still worth a visit during your Roman holiday.

To get here you cross the oldest Roman bridge still in use, and you can view the oldest one still standing. It's a quiet little escape from the mad traffic, and fun to explore. St Bartholomew's is attractive, and the inscription says it contains the saint's body (but we didn't check that out). And its setting in the Tiber makes... More

This lovely little island needs some attention to bring people in all the year round; it has the positioning and could be made into something quite wonderful. It has an interesting history and the riversides around it are under used in many ways. Whilst we visited there was a film festival and a series of bars and restaurants on the... More
