I strongly suggest you arrange Francesco to guide you for the Testaccio Food Tour. He is so knowledgeable about the history of that locale and about how Roman food should be served. We devoured the information and the food!

Testaccio was disappointing during the day. No atmosphere. Market was not a visit worth unless you have to do your groceries! Pyramid was nice to see.

If you want to get away from the hordes of tourists, Testaccio is the neighborhood. It is easily reachable on foot and has a number of great restaurants and cafes. The market is a must.

We took a walking and eating tour of seven places in Testaccio including the Market. We didn't sit there, but in addition to grocery items there was prepared food to eat so I would guess there was some seating.
