Loved our tour guide, she was so informative. Did not love the crowds and rude people that were disrespectful and didn't follow rules. Glad I went but wouldn't recommend this tour for older people. I'm 54 years old and in fairly good shape, I was...More
A great tour and well worth the early start. Our guide, Paolo, was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. We started at 7.30 which worked well - at one stage the two of us were the only people in the Sistine...More
Utilized the “Skip the Line” online ticket voucher booking through Tiqets.com for the Sistine Chapel. I hadn’t chosen to do this for other Rome sites such as the Colosseum, the reason being that there is obviously a premium charged for the tickets. I decided to...More
We absolutely loved it, but so glad we booked for a tour and not just turned up. The queues were huge unless you precook. Our group walked right in and were able to enjoy the exquisite pieces on display. The museums, the artifacts and the...More
I booked a tour that started at 7.30. It was fantastic to walk along the long empty, richly decorated corridors with the guide towards the Sistine Chapel. Also being able to experience the Chapel itself with all its magnificent paintings in peace is well worth...More
Bought tickets with beat the queue included which is extremely necessary looking at how long the queues were. The snaking line through all the peripheral museums was very interesting and must house one of the most extensive collection of artwork and ancient artifacts in the...More
Rome was our final stop on a 16 day Iberian Peninsula cruise. We saw amazing places along the cruise with this final tour being one of our favorites. Such an amazing place to see. We pre-booked our tour guide with Sistine Chapel Tours and bought...More
We were taking a belated honeymoon by doing a one month "Grand Tour" of Europe. Our schedule only allowed us to have two days in Rome where we have never been. We don't like group tours since we like to ask questions and able to...More
I have been to the sistine chapel now 4 times over the last 20 years and 3 have been with tour guide companies. This time I went with walks of Italy pristine sistine walk. We had juliette... And it really was the best tour I...More

My advice is don't try to see it all at once as it is impossible. The Vatican museum itself contains one of the greatest art collections in the history of the world. It is truly incredible. If you have not visited before then do some research and select what you would like to see. Of course the Sistine Chapel is a must.
I did an early tour, before it opens to the general public and it was just fantastic to walk along the empty, amazing art filled corridors. 2 hours later they were packed with people, you could hardly move.
St Peters is also incredible. If you are not disabled then the walk up tot he dome at the top and the amazing view of Rome that awaits is well worth the trip and takes about an hour.
As for pricing, I paid extra to get in early and I don't regret it for a moment. If it is a once in a lifetime trip to Rome then I think the price to pay for the private trips is well worth the investment, even though it can seem expensive to most. Enjoy!

I also can't remember the tour company but did book through Viator (which contracts this to other companies). I would say most important in your booking would be to ensure that you 1. skip the line, 2. have early entry prior to opening to the public. If the tour includes these criteria then you should have a less crowded, and hopefully, more enjoyable experience.

Sistine Chapel Tours. Their Tours start at 9am. We were there 10 minutes earlier and Elisabetta walked us straight in past the queue. She was excellent. Seriously worth the money. By the time we finished (3 hours later) it was getting crowded, something you cannot escape, but not uncomfortably so. Finished off in the Basillica with plenty of space to look around. Try and take a photo of your guide holding up your name over the crowd at the Museum entrance (the start) before approaching her.
