An incredible tour around a really interesting neighbourhood where you soak in the sights and, more importantly, the local food and wine! Definitely recommend this to others seeking something more authentic than a traditional tour. Thanks Dario!

We took the Trastevere for Foodies day tour with Eating Italy and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! What a great way to familiarize yourself with an area and try some of the local specialties. Our guide Dario was awesome. Having lived in Trastevere for a number of years he had plenty of information to share about the neighbourhood, the various foods... More

This is a really great tour for foodies who aren't familiar with the Trastevere neighbourhood yet! The tour starts on the small island on the Tiber, where you cross the oldest bridge in Italy (over 2,000 years old). From there, you walk as a small group of about 10-12 people to 5-6 different eateries. The different foods were fun to... More

We had an incredible time on our Trastevere for Foodies tour with Sarah. The tour began about 10:45am and went for 4 hours. The tour began in a thunderstorm with pouring rain but it cleared up after an hour or so to beautiful sunshine. Sarah has a fantastic guide. She was so kind and friendly, and was incredibly knowledgeable about... More

My husband and I decided to take the Twilight Trastevere Food Tour after meeting a couple in Florence who had done it and loved it a few days prior. We are so glad that we happened to chat with them because this tour was definitely a highlight of our trip. Our guide, Luca, was professional, humorous, knowledgeable and engaging, and... More

We did the Testaccio food tour in Rome with Anna and it was incredible. The directions with where to meet were very clear but in a non-touristy part of town. We were actually the only non-Romans in the square. Our guide, Anna, has a fantastic personality and as a Boston native who has lived in Rome for 8-9 years, she... More

I will preface this be saying our guide was great. He was knowledgable and friendly. The stops that we made included a kiosk where we had a spritz, a restaurant where we sampled fried street food, a meat shop, a sit down restaurant, and a gelato shop. We spent a very long time (45 min to an hour) at the... More

Had an awesome experience walking the streets of Trastevere, learning about the unsung food heroes, tasting great food and drinking way too much. Highly recommended experience.

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
