    Michael Angelo at his best
Wonderful Piazza like so many in Rome to see and explore. When you walk these types of square and take in the architectural buildings, statues and everything else it’s simple staggering. Like to visit all of these types of squares when visiting Europe, try to see as many as possible and take in the significance of the piazza’s spread around Rome.

16th Century. Michelangelo. That's enough for a five point rating.
Piazza del Campidoglio was designed in the 16th Century by the unique artist Michelangelo. The square is situated on top of Capitoline Hill, just behind the monument to Vittorio Emmanuelle II. A long, lazy staircase lead to the square. The center piece is the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius. But following the shrewd Italian policy to protect their cultural heritage, this statue is a good copy; the original is preserved and can be admired in the Capitoline Museum, fronting the square. Piazza del Campidoglio is one of the places you can't skip when in Rome.

    5* review on Campidoglio
It was amazing, and to have the only remaining Roman equestrian statue to survive to the present with Marcus Aurelius the emperor and father of Commodus. Around the corner it had a great view of the Roman forum. I would recommend visiting here to see historical monuments.

Very much worth a look at there is a great view of the Forum around the corner at the right hand side of the square as you are heading towards the Forum.

The square itself is pretty too.

A lovely place to visit. We didn't stop for long and didn't bother with any of the museums but the square itself is very pretty and clean.

This is an interesting space. Flanking the piazza are the Capitoline Museums with some excellent ancient Roman treasures in particular. The equestrian statue of Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius dominates its center. There are good views over part of Rome near its steps. Large statues of Castor and Pollux guard the steps.

A small, lovely square but I do not feel it is impressive, though Michelangelo designed it. I walked out of the Roman Forum to here.

It's certainly worthwhile climbing the stairs to see Michelangelo's lovely piazza that looks out on a view of Rome. Even if you are not planning to visit the Capitoline Museum you should still visit the square.
